Everything was great, really enjoyed my stay in Shizukatei. Room was great and very comfortable, Baths are also great and the surroundings are beautiful and very quiet. They have a transport service and picked me up from the train station, it is just a 10mins drive. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and very high quality. Team was really nice, very patient and helpful. Highly recommended!

The Japanese room was beautiful and HUGE! I stayed by myself and it felt like an apartment all to myself, very indulgent. Very close to the station and easy to get to Hiraizumi to see the UNESCO Temples from here.

I was told that this hotel was recently reformed. Lucky us, it's totally new. The lobby is just like a mini museum. Breakfast is strongly recommended. If you like nature and tranquility, this hotel is surrounded by rice field and it's on top of a little hill that provides a very nice view. We came here by bus. At the bus stop, there is a convenience store to buy drinks and food, cause there are no restaurant in this country side, although you can reserve dinner in the hotel. Then from the bus stop, it's a 10 minute walk to the hotel. Everything was just beautiful and tranquid. We really enjoyed our stay. Walking through the rice field to visit the famous Chūson-ji was our favorite day trip.

I highly recommend taking your time to see Chusonji Temple.

I highly recommend taking your time to see Chusonji Temple. Also, try walking along the mountain path, even if just a little. There are lots of butterbur shoots in full bloom, so be sure to pick some. You can hear the murmuring of the river, see thatched-roof houses, see springs gushing everywhere, and see kites flying leisurely. It's full of nature. It's also recommended for strolls, walking, and hiking. You can also find local delicacies at roadside stations and supermarkets at reasonable prices, so it feels like a great deal. Zunda mochi is famous, but you should definitely try walnut mochi!

I really felt that Hiraizumi reflected the strong will of...

I really felt that Hiraizumi reflected the strong will of the Fujiwara clan to create a Pure Land world. The World Heritage sites were compactly arranged, making it easy to walk around. There were also places to enjoy delicious Iwate Southern Beef, seafood, freshly picked local vegetables, and Hiraizumi-grown Hitomebore rice, and the value for money was excellent. The Hiraizumi World Heritage Guidance Center was free to enter, and was an excellent facility where you could learn more about Hiraizumi. The air was fresh, and the starry sky at night was spectacular.
