The owner of this hotel was one of the kindest people I met in all my travels. He let me check in early (so nice), but it didn't stop there. The next day, he drove me to the ferry so that I could go to the cat island (Tashirojima) AND THEN came back at the end of the day with my luggage and drove me to the train station. THERE'S MORE: I met two other travelers on the island and when the owner saw they didn't have a way to the train station, also had them ride along. True, true kindness. The only downside thing to say is that this hotel is not super close to the ferry/downtown, but it is right by a train station, so it is easy to get to from the JR. I don't mind walking, so my first day there I didn't have an issue getting to the downtown via walking. Also, if you love cats like I do, this place is for you-- as the space next to the hotel has all the owner's cats, who are just the sweetest, cutest babies. The room was comfortable and met all my needs.

I took the ferry to Tashirojima, also known as Cat Island.

I took the ferry to Tashirojima, also known as Cat Island. A tourist information staff member near the station carefully explained how to get to the ferry terminal and how long it would take to get there, using a map. At Genki Market near the ferry terminal, I had the daily simmered flatfish set meal. It was a great deal at 700 yen and delicious. After returning from Tashirojima on the last ferry, I was able to catch a bus from Genki Market to the station just in time. Ferries and buses don't run frequently, so I recommend checking the transfer times for all routes on your itinerary.

The number of stylish shops is increasing, thanks to the relocation of people who volunteered after the Great East Japan Earthquake. While there are no high-end hotels with high-ranking hoteliers or authentic luxury inns, the town is brimming with human warmth. It's a town where people who have suffered emotional trauma have lived side by side, so there's something comforting about it. Ishinomaki is one of my favorite towns in Miyagi Prefecture, offering a laid-back atmosphere. While the seafood is delicious, Italian restaurants and hamburger restaurants have also recently become popular. While Sendai beef is famous, Ishinomaki is also a major producer of chicken, lamb, and beef. There's also a young sheep 🐑 and a yakiniku restaurant that Sandwich Man highly praises. A statue of the main character from Shotaro Ishinomori's manga awaits you on a street corner. Once the COVID-19 situation has settled down, be sure to visit.
