Very nice hotel with very nice staff, super wellcomed happy hour in the evening with snacks, ice creams and drinks. Very good breakfast, despite being a la carte, was pretty plentiful. Very good value for money. The atmosphere by the fireplace was a delight. Room not very large however serve our purpose for one night, and the bed was excellent while all amenities were offered.

Was one of the best parts of the trip. Less crowded than the big cities. Autumn colours were magnificent and so was the urban environment. interesting architecture and lovely homes with verdant surroundings. three nights would provide ample time. the pond and the waterfall are outstanding destinations

You can do most of the things in Karuizawa with a day trip...

You can do most of the things in Karuizawa with a day trip or a 1 night stay from Tokyo. Super convenient, right off the Hokiriku Shinkansen. It's basically a summer getaway for rich Tokyo-ites to escape the heat. Lots of great nature things to see, highly recommended IMHO

Karuizawa is a little gem "off the beaten track" for mist...

Karuizawa is a little gem "off the beaten track" for mist travelers to Japan. A tourist loop bus makes it easy to explore. There are coffee shops, restaurants, shops, & onsens. Excellent hiking too! And for those who like to shop, there's a huge outlet mall right next to the train station.

We had a good time at the Ski Resort and the Shopping...

We had a good time at the Ski Resort and the Shopping Outlets and plenty of Food Choices. We were able to hike going to Hoshino Olsen and also had a wonderful breakfast in the area. The outdoor ice skating area was also great. Bus schedules are far in between but you can opt to take taxi although more expensive

We spent a couple of nights here so my kids can do a ski...

We spent a couple of nights here so my kids can do a ski lesson on one of the days. One could certainly choose to take a day trip from Tokyo for such an activity. However, we wanted to get away from the big city that is Tokyo and it was such a lovely experience. By some stroke of luck, it started snowing as well so that's a bonus for my kids. Around the train station and at the Prince hotel 'mall' there is a 7-11 and a number of restaurants that are pretty good. We did not manage to visit the falls unfortunately. All in all, the quiet serene character of Karuizawa was very much appreciated.

Beautiful area with an Alpine feel.

Beautiful area with an Alpine feel. Plenty of great restaurants. Lots of beautiful nature and hiking. Definitely take the bus up to Shiraito Falls, a unique waterfall like nothing you’ve ever seen.

We spent two nights in Hotel Tsuruya and we had very pleasant time, especially my 4.5 year old boy. The staffs were very warm and helpful. The room and onsen place were tidy and clean. My boy loves futon and the Japanese breakfast especially the rice and miso soup. Although this hotel is not that close to the train station, we had fabulous walking time, stomping on the snows and chasing around before and after dinner.

The design of the hotel is chic yet comfortable The working team in the hotel is very international and professional The fireplace is open to hotel guests at night for a time period with free flow drinks. This hotel has old world charm, and the location is excellent. It is within walking distance to the Prince Shopping Mall, several small shops, cafes, museums, parks, hiking trails & Ginza Street. Also, the bathroom is spacious by Japanese standards, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Great location near to attractions in Karuizawa. Room was big and comfortable with all the amenities needed. We stayed in the half Western-half Japanese room and the beds were nice. There's a Family Mart opposite and a Lawson next door. Breakfast was generous, free parking included.

Located right next to the sky lifts and the equipment rental shops as well as the premium outlet, this is the hotel to stay if you come to Karuizawa for skiing and shopping. Found it extremely convenient that the renral shops allow you to charge the bill to your room.
