I was in Japan for the first time as a solo traveller and had such a lovely stay at Couscous. The glamping set-up is first class, the food is delicious, the location is beautiful and it’s a great way to visit the surrounding area (Hakone, Fugi 5 lakes etc), especially if you have a car. A special mention for Takeshi, Arisa, Shigeki & Stephane (the Couscous team) who were brilliant and helped me with everything from restaurant and site seeing recommendations, to ensuring I was very comfortable at Couscous. Arigatou gozaimashita! Mata Aimasho.

Our stay at the Rustic Retreat was truly one of the best experiences I have ever had with any accommodation. 🌟 Our host went above and beyond: he picked us up at the train station, drove us to his favorite restaurant, and had prepared the most beautiful room for us. The forest bathing was great.

The forest bathing was great. I recommend it for people who like to walk. It feels like you can enjoy forest bathing while looking at the ocean view. One thing that Manazuru could improve on is its lack of tourist facilities. There are few tourists, and while there are a fair number of restaurants, they were all full, so it was difficult to find a place for lunch. Perhaps because it was Sunday, the restaurant seemed more lively with locals than tourists, which made it uncomfortable. I wanted to have a leisurely beer, but the locals were so noisy that I quickly left. There's no cafe, so there's no place to take a break. This is a town that can make tourism an industry, using the sea and forest as resources. I think there is more room for the town to be more innovative.
