FAQs about hotels in Osaka

A Stronghold of Japanese Culture

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.

However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.

The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.

The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.

The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.

I love temples and shrines, and was not disappointed.

I love temples and shrines, and was not disappointed. If you speak Japanese, the rakugo shows at the nearby theater were funny and very reasonably priced. A walk along the river at Nakanoshima park promises beautiful roses...and if you are a Geocacher, you will have plenty to do! Don't miss the covered shopping arcade at Tenjinbashi....so old-timey and and fun!

Osaka is a good base to use to visit the tourist (and other area) attractions such as Kyoto, Nara, Kobe with easy train trips. Osaka itself is big enough to have many attractions and activities and be small enough to navigate relatively easily. The food choice is fantastic and do some research to find what interests you I highly recommend this city and have spent weeks here

Osaka has a good subway system, which is easy to navigate, if your first time here maybe stay near Namba or adjacent areas as all the shopping, restautrants are close by, Osaka is mostly flat and a grid layout close in so walking around it is difficult to get lost. Going out to night clubs at night felt safe, never had any issues, at same time to be respectful to other commuter's and restaurant owners/staff. One of the traditional cafes had a couple of ninety year olds running cafe, some times their daughter were there to help sometimes not, so return used plates and cups to counter before leaving, sometime collect food from counter, so you read situation watch what others do, be polite. In most places you return trays and plates to counters before you leave. Look around you can find great value in restaurants for example 380 yen for Egg, toast, Blend coffee, water. Maybe with hotdog 680 yen

Osaka truly has something for every kind of traveler.

Osaka truly has something for every kind of traveler. If you're into fashion and shopping, you can head to Umeda, Namba, and Shinsaibashi. For those who love a retro Showa-era atmosphere, there’s Sennichimae, Tenjinbashisuji, and the Tsutenkaku area. History buffs can explore Osaka Castle and the Museum of History. And if you enjoy visiting shrines, Osaka and its suburbs are dotted with unique sanctuaries, each full of character and fascinating stories. As long as you approach them with a polite and respectful attitude, the locals are often happy to share their favorite hidden gems and stories.

Absolutely positive experience in Osaka.

Absolutely positive experience in Osaka. People are very friendly. The Aquarium of Osaka is a must see for families. The city has many restaurants with great food, especially seafood, at reasonable prices. Shopping at the Outlet stores in Rinku, was awesome. However, please do not stay late or go home during rush hour if you’re going home by train - because the path going to the railway is packed with shoppers, shoulder to shoulder.

I stayed in Osaka for 6 nights but should of doubled that.

I stayed in Osaka for 6 nights but should of doubled that. It's a good base to travel to Kobe, Kyoto, Uji, and Nara for the main cities. I believe Hiroshima take a bit longer so that's up to you. You can manage to catch those cities for about max $12 round trip. As for Osaka I didn't have too many days to check it out but outside of Namba you can go for a relaxing walk. Didn't check out the Umeda area unfortunately as it is a large city. Trains run well.

The property is super conveniently located - it is next to a Namba train station, which is one of the main ones in Osaka and it is walking distance to Dotonbori food street. It has loads of places to eat (incl Starbucks and different ramen places), a small conveniece shop around the corner and just about anything is available for sale inside Namba station shops. The room housed 3 proper beds, has a washing machine and hotel provides all extras like toothbrushes etc. It is not a fancy place but v comfortable, quiet and with excellent location.

The hotel is simple but very well located in Dotonbori—you can easily walk around Osaka’s shopping and dining areas. The room was one of the smallest we saw in Japan, very tight, but the bed is comfortable and, at the end of the day, all you want is to arrive and rest. It’s also close to Namba Station, which makes it convenient for visiting nearby or even more distant places.

Cross Hotel is in the heart of Osaka, very close to the Dotonbori strip. The rooms are comfortable, but on the smaller side of all the hotels we had on our roundtrip in Japan. I believe the hotel is a bit too expensive for the value it provides. Overal, it is a good hotel with a decent breakfast buffet and can be recommended for a trip to Osaka due to its location.

I’ve loved everything about my stay at this hotel. The hotel is conveniently located near Dotonbori, Namba station and main shopping areas. Lots of restaurant options around. Staff was super helpful and the building is great. Highly recommended! Next time in Japan I will not think twice before booking another APA hotel.

Location was great, close to Tsuruhashi station where you had the subway, osaka loopline and local trains that go to Kyoto and Nara. Good sized rooms and the beds were really comfy. AC kept the room cool all through the night. Would recommend if you're looking for a decently cheap hotel close to Namba and Dotonbori.
