FAQs about hotels in Tokyo

See It to Believe It!

The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!

Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Center near the waterfront, and savor the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.

Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.

For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Outdoor markets sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.

Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

Tokyo is an exciting city with so much to see and do. There are countless great places to eat and drink, along with fantastic shopping options for every taste. We also visited several museums and art galleries, and really enjoyed them — I only wish we had more time to explore even more. Overall, Tokyo is a vibrant, dynamic city that offers something for everyone.

Tokyo is a vibrant city and we just love it.

Tokyo is a vibrant city and we just love it. The food, the culture and the respect people show each other. It ain't always easy to communicate as an European but there's always a good will to help. The food, the food! We've been to fancy restaurants as well to small holes in the wall with only 6 seats. Everywhere the food is fantastic. Everything is made from fresh raw materials in real time with a lot of professional pride. Just enjoy It's not easy to understand the subway/trainsystem but once you've got the hook of it it's a splendid service We use to say, every part of the city differs from one another and you should at least spend a day at each district you visit; for the vibe, for the culture, for the shopping and the food

Tokyo is full of Charm, unfortunately, the travel is too short this time. I'd like to explore Tokyo longer next time if time is sufficient. You can see viarous Shines any where, the food is diversity as well. In a word, Tokyo is a city where you can experience both the vibrant urban lifestyle and the essence of local Japanese culture.

Our family group from Osaka had a wonderful time in Tokyo, and staying at SVRVA made the whole trip extra special. We especially loved exploring the Asakusa area – it’s full of traditional charm, local snacks, and a fantastic view of the Skytree. The house was close enough to walk there, which made everything easy. Food was a big part of our trip! We had amazing sushi near Asakusa, delicious ramen in Ueno, and some great yakitori just a few minutes’ walk from the house. Every meal felt like a little adventure. Getting around Tokyo was incredibly smooth. The train system is fast and easy to navigate – we could reach Shinjuku, Shibuya, and other major spots without any hassle. The location of the house made it a perfect base for sightseeing and day trips. For families, we highly recommend visiting the Sumida Aquarium and going up the Skytree. Our kids also loved the nearby parks and river cruise. Tokyo is full of fun, and SVRVA was the perfect home base for all of it.

There is so much to see in Tokyo and it’s a Vibrant city.

There is so much to see in Tokyo and it’s a Vibrant city. We only had 60 hours so went to TeamLab: Planets. The imperial Palace and Gardens. A history museum. A MiPig cafe. The Shibuya Scramble Crossing. Shopping in Ginza and Shinjuku and for secondhand high end merchandise such as Chanel, the Sumo Wrestlers training gym for another free viewing of them working out and in practice, and up the Government Building tower for a free 360 degree vista of the nighttime city and to view projected films on its outside walls while lying in the park outside. The shopping in the stations was amazing particularly for food items to bring home. It was easy to navigate the city and public transport using Google maps and to converse using Google translate. The Vegan Ramen in the Team Labs garden was excellent despite the lack of meat or fish.

Great transport links. East to get around and cheap fares with Suica card. Trains always on time, especially the Bullet Train. Lots of places to eat. We don't like Japanese food so went to Hard Rock Cafe and Pizza restaurants to eat. Lots of places to visit. Do lots of research before you go

We only stayed 2 nights at the end of our 2 week Japan trip. Anymore than that would not have been possible with 2 kids and suitcases. It was quite small. Bonus was that we were in a quiet area in walking distance to Jingumae and Shibuya. My husband loves baseball and the hotel, being near sports stadiums, overlooks the baseball field where you can watch an entire game or walk to the game itself, which we did. It’s also close to a cool park, Meiji park, with a playground and cafes. There’s a family mart and cafe downstairs in the lobby.

A surprisingly comfortable stay in a very central location, only one stop away from Shibuya. Locker & lounge space is obviously limited, being a capsule hotel in central Tokyo, but the capsules themselves are spacious, as are the showers. Very quiet, very comfy, VERY affordable and would 100% stay here again.
