A fantastic stay in a beautiful ryokan. We loved every minute of it: the views into the sculptured garden, the spacious and beautifully designed room, the bath, the food, the hospitality. With just a few steps from the hotel, you access the Unzen jigoku geothermal fields.

The location is simply excellent - just across the street are the "hells" that I came to see. It is also very close to the bus stop, so easy to reach for people using public transport. I even had the entire room for myself. The landlord is very nice and helpful. And on top of it, I received a free coupon for the public onsen just a few meters away which was a great experience. I definitely would come back.

A beautiful busride from Nagasaki brought us to Unzen. A few steps from the busstop is the lovely old Ryokan. The location is perfect for the visit of the hot spring boardwalk (beautiful sight also at night), restaurants and the only grocery, departure for walks. Supper is an impressive and delicious 19 items affair. Our tatami room was spacious and beautiful, the futon made up in traditional style. Fresh yukatas (cotton "kimono") and towels daily. A good indoor and outdoor bath at the ryokan. We loved the experience and will gladly come back. Maybe in winter or when the many azalea are blooming

Japanese breakfast great. Location perfect (the parking place is a little separated from the hotel - not a problem, but it would be helpful to know in advance), staff very nice, and the spa fantastic. We would have loved to have the dinner too, but with two teenagers "fine dining" doesn't make much sense - the staff recommended local restaurants without any problem.

Great Hostel in the little town of Unzen. The employee is such a nice guy and he shows you around very enthusiasticly. It's very cool to make daytrips to the Unzen national park. There are even a few restaurants in walking distance of the hostel.

Nice view from room over the lake. Lovely meal in a local place that far exceeded expectations: the town was pretty quiet and we assume people stayed in their hotels to eat. Quite a few shops/facilities were closed.
