Best hotel ever we do in 3 weeks in Japan! It's a love hotel so maybe not for family, perfectly clean, huge bed, huge room, bath tub with bubbles and lights, massage chair, even slot machine in the room, huge TV with many channels, all these equipments for very cheap price. Staff speak only japanese but super friendly.

Great location, service and room. Hotel provides free ochazuke at 8-10pm (limited number of sets that run out by 8:45 tho). It was yummy. We got a deluxe room that was very spacious. Amenities are available for self collection at the lobby. Richmond hotels are always comfortable. Standard rooms are small so get a deluxe room for more space. Join their membership program for one hour extended check out.

We liked the room it was quite spacious.

We liked the room it was quite spacious. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was an easy bus ride from the main station and there were many restaurants nearby. The breakfast offered a lot options both Japanese and Western. The staff were very helpful finding some bus information and lending us umbrellas and adaptors.

Visited Nasu animal park, Waterfall and Nikko Toshogu shrine...

Visited Nasu animal park, Waterfall and Nikko Toshogu shrine in Nikko by car with my family and these were outstanding, In Utsunomiya there were plenty of good places near my hotel to eat with my family including grandchildren

I highly recommend trying some unusual gyoza.

I highly recommend trying some unusual gyoza. Also get out to Ohya! The museum, the cafes, Tagefudousan... It is better to have a car to get to the beautiful spots on the outskirts of town like onsens.

Very easy to get around downtown (west side of station).

Very easy to get around downtown (west side of station). Almost every bus goes up and down the main street. It is a good base to make trips to Ashikaga Flower Park, Nasu, Nikko, Ohya and less than an hour by fast train to Tokyo. I like the view of the mountains from Utsunomiya. On a clear day, the top floor of the Prefecture Building (kencho) has a great view.

Our main destination was NIKKO, where hotel prices are more expensive, and since you have to change trains in Utsunomiya when traveling by train from Tokyo anyway, the Utsunomiya hotel, which has more diverse services, was a better option for staying overnight.

There were more gyoza restaurants than I expected, and I...

There were more gyoza restaurants than I expected, and I couldn't get into any of the two major chains. There was a long line at Koran in front of the station. I had no choice but to eat at Nihonkai Shoya, a restaurant in my hotel. It was great to see a bicycle race on the street that day. I was able to visit the Oya Museum, home of the Oya stone quarry, and Oya Kannon, Japan's oldest stone Buddha statue, and I was able to enjoy the "City of Stone," Utsunomiya, in a memorable way. I was also glad to visit Matsugamine Christian Church, a Catholic church. My wife and I have discussed taking the Light Line next time to experience Utsunomiya's different scenery and history. And this time, I'd like to try the authentic gyoza at Koran and Minmin Gyoza.

It was a short bus ride from the station. The room was clean and tidy and the bathroom was a good size. The bed was comfortable and the room was big enough to have our bags open. In walking distance to a variety of restaurants and Lawson and My Family Mart. The staff were very helpful. The breakfast was really good with lots to choose from either Japanese or Western.

Very close to the bus and train station, only 5 min walk, yet it is a very quiet area. Small, only 1 male and 1 female dorm, quiet. A very friendly host who has incredible tips on what to do and the background of sights of the area and elsewhere. Utsunomiya offers quite a few things to see, which are not overcrowded.

We enjoyed our stay. This property is very near to the train station and a mall (with supermarket). Room was clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. They have coin laundy and microwave at 1F with free cold/hot water and ice! Value for money! highly recommended for travellers.

The bed so comfort until I over slept. I get 50% discount on carpark fees pay at Hotel .... overnight carpark fee 2K yen, i paid 1K yen... pay at hotel. It's just walking distance to train station. Lots of good food in there.
