We have not stayed before but We found out that this hotel changed ownership in December 2024. So ignore any previous reviews. It is clearly run by professionals now and they have done extensive refurbishment. It is truly beautiful and spotlessly clean. It had a Superb beach location, lovely swimming pool. Double aspect infinity pool. Attentive staff. Hotel located on a little peninsula with lots of pretty areas to sit. Sunsets superb. Can walk along beaches to other hotels in Ahungalle otherwise you really need a tuk tuk which the staff will always get for you. ( and are cheap) we visited a huge reclining Buddha Temple whilst staying here. A must do ! Internet OK. Fridge in room. Tea and coffee making facilities in room. Good supply tea and coffee and 2 waters daily. It was a lovely stay.

Our stay in Ahu Bay was truly amazing. The room's interior perfectly suited our needs, and the private swimming pool was a real highlight for me. The peaceful atmosphere in the area added to the overall experience. However, what truly made our stay memorable was the outstanding staff. The property was beautifully crafted so as not to disturb the stunning surrounding nature. The wooden and thatched finishes really added to the natural look and feel of the environment. The open air restaurant as well as tables and chairs nestled in what I loved to call “secret hiding places” as a child was so thoughtful and made me smile. Every area felt cared for and appreciated which I really felt from the moment I arrived. Barbara, Lars and the team are just incredible. Everyone was so attentive and zen but I appreciated they also allowed me my lone wolf time so I never felt disturbed or intruded upon during my quiet time of reflection and rebooting. I highly recommend Jungle Beach and I cannot wait to return!!! I am already anticipating my next holidays to revisit!! Thank you so much All for such a beautifully relaxing and restful time!! PS - On a separate note the food is also amazing and I often saw guests from neighboring hotels eating at Jungle Beach also! Just such a beautiful place and very grateful for the incredible experience!!

Thank you Dinesh for a pleasant stay, even though I didn't use all your services, I believe they are perfect. The food was incredible, I hope I can cook a curry like you had someday. But it will probably be better when I come again.. :) The terrace has a beautiful view, the beautiful quiet beach is a few minutes walk away, the beautiful viewpoint is also a short walk. Overall, Ahungalle is a very nice and authentic. If you are looking for a quiet place and a very homely atmosphere, this is the right place.

Villa 42 is, in short a hidden gem. For anyone looking for comfort, privacy and wonderful hospitality they won't get any better than this lovely villa just half a mile or so from gorgeous (mostly empty) beaches and several decent restaurants (ask Siri for recommendations). Siri will provide his pampered guests with the best of breakfasts adapting tp personal taste (Sri Lankan style or to more western taste). Siri's well maintained swimming pool will be your refreshing reward after a few hours of Sri Lankan heat.

if you are some one who wants to enjoy sea views with modern day comforts - look no further , I am very wildly travel and for me I have not found any such place to enjoy sea views , relax and be to myself . staff here is very lovely , special shout out Prabhu who did his best to give us vegetarian food , perfect place for me time and unwinding

My favourite place was the turtle hatchery.

My favourite place was the turtle hatchery. Most meals were eaten at the Hotel. Very easy to get around. There is a tour agency opposite the hotel entrance, it cant get any better than that. It is easy to take tuk tuk or van taxis. Superior beach front view. Beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Well done to the management and staff for this top class facility. Local fishermen were easy to approach and social chat with.

Ahungalla is a little village, hence to see places around...

Ahungalla is a little village, hence to see places around you need bus or tuk tuk services, they run on main road all the time. We loved Bentota - a resort 20 min on a bus - it had calm beach and cafes to eat/drink around. Just outside Bentota there is village where you can get good shopping for clothes, gifts etc. Galle is 50min drive on a bus from Ahungalla. It's a lovely historic place to visit. We liked Ahungalla as it's less busy/noisy than other towns, and the villa we stayed was 5min walk to the beach. There is a good supermarket for basic items.

Peaceful hotel nicely located between 2 beautiful beaches that are completely different feels than usual sri Lankan pretty crowded beaches. Staff is really nice and helpful, massages are amazing, pool is clean as it’s everything. Truly recommend this place you won’t regret it.
