Absolutely unique design and localisation just at the lake! Boat trip at the morning at very low cost was amazing. Highly recommend!

Excellent budget accommodation in udawalawa. Our double room was basic but clean with fresh towels and necessary things.

The room was clean and comfortable and was within close proximity to the safari and other attractions. What really struck out to us were the hosts, they are so hospitable and welcoming and went far beyond expectations in every way from showing us around the sugar cane fields to guiding us on the safari. They welcomed us into their homes and showed us how to cook traditional meals and we ate in the alfresco style restaurant that they said they’re soon to open. Once the restaurant opens I have every faith that it will flourish as the food was delicious! The hostel was brilliant, the hosts are exceptional! -check out the elephant transit hotel where orphaned elephants are fed (amazing experience!)

Amazing place, two bungalows near by the incredible swimming pool ! 🏊🏻‍♂️ Everything is clean, the staff is lovely, the food was delicious, home made cooking and the portions were huge ! 😋 Nice location if you want to do the safari, they arrange the safari for us, you don’t have to stress your mind. We will come back, a little heaven between the sugar can fields 🥰

This stay was a great experience! The accommodation is a beautiful oasis, and the cottage was very modern and clean. Communication online was good. Leel adviced us to do an afternoon safari instead of morning. Happy we listened to him! We saw around 40 elephants, a crocodile and many other animals. The food prepared by Leels mother was the best we have had in Sri Lanka, both dinner and breakfast. Such a lovely woman! The driving that Leel arranged was in a modern, compact minivan, with belts and aircondition. Driven by his nephew in a safe manner. He picked us up in Ella, and drove us to Yala. The day after he also drove us to next location. Incredibly kind. Bring bug spray!!

We had a beautiful stay at Amba Kola, a slice of paradise in the Udawalawa jungle. We originally booked for 1 night but as soon as we arrived we were so warmly welcomed and loved the look and feel so much that we extended our stay. Janik and his family were incredible hosts, they treated us like family. Amba Kola is perfectly located on the edge of the National Park, which made it super easy to access safari tours. Tours are available to book onsite with their recommended tour guide, who we found to be so helpful, spoke very good English, and was amazing at spotting all of the wildlife on safari and relaying information. We saw many elephants as well as peacocks, deer, crocodiles, chameleons, iguanas, and so many different species of birdlife. Our room at Amba Kola was very relaxing and comfortable, we really loved the extra touch of an outdoor shower. We had the best food of our whole trip during our stay here, it truly was amazing. Janik’s mother, Mama Swarna, makes beautiful authentic home cooked meals, made from home grown and locally sourced fresh ingredients, and served with love. We have not stoped raving about it yet! Mama Swarna is a top rated cook and also offers traditional cooking classes. Janik, Greshan, and Sanju were so warm and friendly from the moment we arrived. Some of the most generous and happiest people we have met. They went out of their way to show us many of the local sights, and were always checking in on us with a smile to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We loved spending time petting and playing with their lovely dogs and cats, chilling in the beautiful garden, and enjoying a cool beer of an afternoon while playing a game of chess before dinner. We would not change a thing about our stay, every aspect was tastefully thought out and we enjoyed every moment, but the thing that really stood out and made our experience so special was being treated as part of this beautiful family.

We loved our stay here, Milan was so friendly and nice to chat with. We had the whole place to ourselves (by luck), it was so peaceful there. The room was very well equipped with a working tv with English channels, great aircon and shower. The balcony on the river was lovely, we saw all kinds of birds and even a turtle in the river (or tortoise?) We did the full day 12 hour safari for 49,000 (2 people) organised by Milan. We had a great day, it was long and hot but worth it. Milan got us a good taxi to Tangalle the next day too. 10/10 recommend, it really felt like a proper safari lodge stay!!

Serene surroundings with streams, lush greenery, and a delightful variety of bird species. The apartment was spacious, spotless, and well-maintained. The pool was in excellent condition, and the staff were friendly and attentive. A special thanks to Chanuka for promptly addressing all our requests.
