Very secluded and very well built accommodation. The staff were super friendly and helpful, always available to assist with anything we needed. The accommodation is very difficult to get to if in a car - so if you take the property's jeep (pickup truck) it's a better option. The views from the property are stunning, I hope the new development they are planning will not interupt the current views. Highly recommended for a peaceful get away

Had a blissful stay of 3 nights, which went by too quickly. On 9/Dec/2025 we travelled here from Colombo with zero issues using a private taxi. The weather was fine and road conditions were normal from Colombo to Haputale via Ratnapura, by now largely unaffected by the recent cyclone. In fact unless you were specifically looking out for signs of the event (like I was) you would be hard-pressed to even notice them. While in Haputale we got to experience the Pekoe Trail (check Facebook for latest updates from the Pekoe Trail Organization), calm walks near the guesthouse, and also a visit to the Kelliebede Tea Factory a short tuktuk ride away. But perhaps the best part of our brief stay here was the opportunity to meet and interact with the hosts, Shan and Piyumi. They were hospitable, warm, and very attentive. We also learnt a great deal about Sri Lankan culture from them, who shared with us so generously. And the food! We were served a rotating menu of vegetable curries, delicious pol roti, string hoppers, egg hoppers, and fruit. Much better than anything we have had so far on this trip. A real human experience, which is so rare in this day and age. 5 stars, and I am not typically a generous grader.

We highly recommend this hotel! The staff is exceptional—always attentive and ready to assist with anything we needed. The food was so good, thanks to a talented chef who adapted the menu to suit our requirements. Everything was fresh and made with high-quality ingredients. Our family of 10 stayed at this hotel over Christmas, and we were all extremely satisfied and happy with our choice. The garden and swimming pool were wonderful bonuses. We initially hesitated between several cities in the tea region, but choosing Haputale turned out to be perfect. It’s a charming village with only locals and no mass tourism, offering a truly authentic experience. One morning, we woke up early, took a tuk-tuk, and visited Lipton’s Seat—it was magical! The colors and landscapes made it one of our most memorable moments in Sri Lanka. We also had the chance to take the train from Haputale station, which added to the experience. If you’re looking for a relaxing stay in the mountains, don’t hesitate—this place is perfect!

Everything was perfect. This is the best hotel we have ever been to and I actually didn’t want to leave. We stayed for two nights in a Suite. The weather was really nice, the views were breathtaking. The hotel had the best staff I have ever met. It is a seven star hotel in my opinion. We had their lunch and dinner bott twice and the food was some of the best we’ve had. Lunch was $20/person and dinner was $25/person. Very good price, there was a LOT of food. Different menu every time and options! The pool was lovely also. There is a couple of nice sights you can also visit.

They are amazing host and they try to accomodate you as much as possible. They even arranged mango curry for breakfast on demand. They also cook amazing breakfast and dinner. View is also great from terrace. I totally recommend this stay. They totally go out of the way to make their guest feel like home.

Without a doubt, this is the best and is recommended. The family that runs the room is wonderful. They are super nice and always wait for you with a smile, or tea in the afternoon. The breakfast is very rich and filling. The views of the mountains are breathtaking!! I recommend it!!

Haputale is a breathtaking hill town surrounded by lush tea...

Haputale is a breathtaking hill town surrounded by lush tea estates and misty mountains. We stayed at Benito Bungalow by The Serendipity Collection, where the in-house chef prepared fresh and delicious meals every day. The cool climate, scenic views, and peaceful setting made it the perfect place to unwind. It’s quieter and less touristy than other hill stations, which adds to its charm. A true hidden gem in Sri Lanka!

Most of the activities are outside of main Haputale the...

Most of the activities are outside of main Haputale the hiking is wonderful as was our visit to Lipton's seat and the tour of the tea factory. Main Haputale not really much going on but the hotel was perfect after a long day of hiking.

The views were amazing!

The views were amazing! I spent a month at the Bel View Guest House home stay. I took the extra option of dinners there. The breakfasts were included in the price. Great for someone looking for a quiet retreat to relax, that is not hot like the coastal areas. The hosts will gladly help to refer you to places depending on what you like. A must visit place in Haputale id the Adisham Bungalow. It is a very old, well manicured, rock monastery at the top of a mountain. It is run by the St. Benedict monks. They have a little shop that sells the juices, marmalade and jams that they sell there. None of the products have any additives or chemicals and the tastiness shows that.

Haputale is a small, sleepy Sri Lankan town - as opposed to...

Haputale is a small, sleepy Sri Lankan town - as opposed to a tourist town - in a beautiful hill country setting. It is much quieter and much cheaper to stay in than the tourist hot-spots of Nuwara Eliya or Ella, with a range of locally-run guesthouses, rooms and restaurants. The sleepy train station connects it with Colombo, Kandy and Ella, buses pass through and tuk-tuks can take you to nearby waterfalls or the iconic Lipton's Seat from which the stroll down through tea fields is stunning. There are several Olives restaurants in Haputale - Viewpoint was our favourite both for food and a stunning view. If you want a party then avoid Haputale as you'd be bored.

The trip to Lipton's seat takes about 5 hours round trip but...

The trip to Lipton's seat takes about 5 hours round trip but is amazing...much better experience than the tour book suggested. An absolute delight was the opportunity to have tea and excellent snacks while in c the clouds at the peak...for an amazingly low price. Views from our balcony were spectacular and the food - both dinner and breakfast - was top notch

This is the best place I stayed during my 2 months in Sri Lanka. The location and the view are stunning, in the middle of the nature, the family who runs the guesthouse is extremely friendly and helpful, they do everything they can to make you feel like home since the first moment you arrive. The food is without a doubt the best I ever had in this country, the rice and curry is just delicious and always freshly cooked. The rooms are very clean and have amazing view, everything was perfect

The apartment is close to the train station and bus stop. View is absolutely incredible. Bed was comfortable and there were extra blankets as it got cold at night. You can take a direct bus to Diyaluma waterfall for very cheap (five minute walk from the hotel). There's also a nice tea factory and cafe you can walk to through the tea plantations in around 30m.

The view. If you're staying overnight in Haputale, let it be this hotel for the view - it's worth visiting Haputale on it's own. Can have dinner at the hotel (could be better, though).
