I have been to this town on several previous occasions, (I live in Myanmar, and have an educational charity and donate at the various orphanages). Due to the current 'situation' in Myanmar, there are very few foreign tourists in Nyaung Shwe, and many larger hotels, restaurants and shops that cater to foreign tourists are closed. However, the locality is very safe and the local people are very friendly and helpful. The internet is relatively stable, but take a torch with you because the electricity supply to the town is only available for a few hours each day. Larger hotels have generators, but smaller hotels do not!Guest review bySimonThailand

They room we stayed had more spaces and all of us enjoyed the faster WIFI connectivity to access social media. Kids had a fantastic time in the swimming pool. The four hour boat ride and the visit to the red vineyard added more fun to our trip. Mr. Priyantha & his staff are very friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed the verity of tasty food they served.Guest review byNimalSingapore

The staff was very friendly and kind. Delicious breakfast (pancakes, toasts, fresh fruits and yummy homemade pineapple jam). Room spacious and clean. Finally, a quick note for those who are wondering whether to go to Myanmar or not.. My advice - go. We were there several times and we have never felt unsafe.
