The very friendly and helpful management and staff, always ready to assist. Up-to-date facilities in the room - nicely furnished, comfortable bed, very clean and well serviced room and 24 hour reception service and bar. Excellent selection of food and hot and cold drinks for breakfast. Excellent facilities on the rooftop level including a swimming pool, sun deck, a very well stocked bar and a very good and reasonably priced restaurant with very efficient level of service. The hotel is also located in a very quiet area with only a few meters to a bus stop and a very good bus service. In our opinion the Cerviola is a 3 star hotel that punches well above its weight.

My partner and I wanted a special retreat to celebrate Valentine's. The place is incredible, all the way from the comfortable and spotless rooms to the beautifully decorated interior, thanks to the incredible artistry of Irene and Marco. They welcomed us with big hearts and made us feel warm and cosy in what felt like our own home. Breakfast was amazing and always well prepared for us (we loved drinking our morning tea on the balcony with the beautiful 'bella vista'). We highly recommend this spot for those in need of a dose of vivid creativity, and for those that want to detox from the daily noise of normal life. Overall experience: 10/10, highly recommended. Beautiful people, beautiful place. Grazie mille Irene and Marco!!!

Clean, comfortable and great communication from Lara, the host. Nice selection of places to drink and eat within a five or so minute walk. Bus to Valetta around 40 minutes in total (buses do run on a little bit of flexi time! But that's one of the charms when you're away, isn't it?!) 15 minute cab ride to the airport which cost me €10 (this was at 315am). Handy folder provided by the host with suggestions and a recommendation for a wonderful tour guide, Charmaine - definitely worth taking up this suggestion, she was great value for the knowledge, kindness and personality. Depending on what your plans are for your time in Malta keep in mind the location. If you're wanting to get to the very North of the island on public transport will be a bit of a slog. If driving it's an easy ride. That said, can't be critical as the accomodation is EXACTLY where it says it is when you book it! That's just more abit of advice from my experience. All in all, brilliant place and I highly recommend it and look forward to going back. Lara, thanks very much 🤘

Whilst out of the way of the city the marina area is vibrant...

Whilst out of the way of the city the marina area is vibrant and well serviced with bars/restaurants. Pleasant stroll to a decent but small beach with bar/restaurant. Very well served for travel around the island… cheap buses and taxis.

The bay area is lovely and full of cafes and eateries many of which are reasonably priced. Walking round the harbour (right side as you face it from the main bus stop) there are a number of constructed salt pans designed to provide a home for sea life when the tide is out which was really interesting to see. A bit further along was a newly renovated fort, St Thomas Tower, which had an incredibly interesting history focusing on piracy and the corsairs! The only downside to staying in Marsaskala was the extensive work being carried out on the harbour front itself which blocked the lovely view while sitting in the cafes.

If you are looking for a quiet area to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of Malta's more well-known tourist areas, Marsaskala is the ideal choice, being located 10-20 minutes by car from Birgu and Valletta. In the harbour area there are numerous restaurants, bars and pastry shops where you can find both local and international dishes.

Marsakala is a lovely place.

Marsakala is a lovely place. The locals are so friendly and helpful. There is a regular bus services that can take you all over the island. There are plenty of bars and restaurants which offer traditional Maltese food if you wish to try, and also lots of other international cuisines, all of which were lovely.

Enough restaurants to choose.

Enough restaurants to choose. Really nice beaches and very safe circumstansies for a walk in the municipalitiy. Well equiepped shops, kind staff anywhere. Buses are clean and fast, we were satisfied with them. Missing some cultural evenings (e.g. concerts) - our stay was at the end of September. But maybe at main time (June-August) they would be available, please check it. Small town with a very good beaches, they makes us feel happy.

Quiet fishing bay with more locals than tourists.

Quiet fishing bay with more locals than tourists. Water is super clean here and safe swimming straight off the rocks. Great beach bars with tasty food and fantastic happy hours. A fabulous array of super high quality restaurants (not cheap). TalFamija and Nargile Lounge were particularly good along with Legends for cocktails.

Portside lodge is located very close to Marsaskala Bay, multiple supermarkets - next door and across road. Walk to bus stop and multiple restaurants and cafes. Pleasant rooftop area with pool and seating including indoor tables and chairs. One of the highlights of this property is the basement parking lot which is so convenient in Malta where parking can be a challenge in the summer months.

The apartment was very spacious, clean, the kitchen equipped with all necessities, large balcony. Main bedroom has its own bathroom and closet (this was great). Very good location – 3-4 shops within 5 min walking distance, 10 min walk to Marsaskala centre. Very quit location (end of April), great for family holiday. Matthew provided detailed information, late check in was not a problem…
