The best location on our Netherlands trip. Water canal 5 metres from kitchen. Windmill and port both in 2 minutes on foot. You can rent a boat in a village and have a beautiful trip through canals.

A pretty old house right in the center of beautiful Dokkum. Rooms featuring many details and combining modern state of the art amenities with the historic charme of an old house to perfection. Very nice and quite location, really convenient for 1 day travel to Ameland. The room was really well furnished, very clean and had a wide comfy bed. Unfortunately we left early and could not have a breakfast, however the dinner in the restaurant was delicious - really one of the best mussels in my life!

A small but charming village.

A small but charming village. It was lovely to walk around the cottage. There was a supermarket where we could get everything we needed. There was also a windmill that sold various things. Burdaard is close to Leeuwarden, Dokkom, Lauwersmeer, the Wadden Islands, and more. Plenty to do in the area!

We were just passing through and it was raining.

We were just passing through and it was raining. So we only had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Both were very good. The breakfast table was beautifully set, see photo.

Burdaard is a small, pretty village, the perfect starting...

Burdaard is a small, pretty village, the perfect starting point for many different cycling tours, which are very easy to plan yourself thanks to the network of junctions. In one direction you can cycle along the Dokkumer Ee towards Leeurwaren, and in the other direction to Dokkum. Dining options in Burdaard are very limited.

Burdaard is a very small village, but its immediate surroundings boast many interesting old towns and historic cities that can be explored by both bicycle and car. A well-developed network of cycle paths, organized into a junction system, offers numerous opportunities to explore the area by bike.

A beautiful, enormous garden perfect for strolling, sitting, and relaxing amidst a profusion of shrubs and flowers, dotted with sculptures or pottery designed and crafted by the owners themselves. It's a fantastic area for cycling, or for exploring the water by boat.

An idyllic little Dutch village situated directly on the canal. A working windmill is located there. Two bridges allow large ships to pass through the canal with the assistance of bridge keepers.

We really enjoyed our stay in wintery Friesland. Cute and cozy little hotel with great breakfast every morning. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. Extra long beds are a plus. Burdaard is a quiet little place from where you can start your explorations in no time. Would definitely recommend it posthus and hopefully come back some time. Thank you for the great time, we will happily think back to it :)

What a find. Lovely little hotel on the Canal and the owners were just so friendly and helpful. Superb food for the evening. Very unusual hotel and quirky but superb.
