It was in a quiet street and had very good facilities. It was close to a very good restaurant who were accommodating to our late request for a meal. The apartment had comfortable furniture and the host gave us some provisions and drinks. The chalk board had a welcome message wishing my daughter good luck with her Ironman event

Very close to Train station and Main Alkmaar centre. Nice size hotel - only 22 rooms. Very friendly staff , helpful , efficient and provided excellent service . Good choice for breakfast and well organised to avoid overcrowding by booking breakfast in 3 x 1 hour slots . Very comfortable bed, in large room , good shower and excellent choice of TV programmes in room.

We were treated by a lovely receptionist who helped us check in. She asked if we needed any restaurant recommendations or anything at all! The room is very spacious and clean, and the room complimentary items were fantastic (good coffee machine). The aircon was definitely welcomed! Water jet bath was great! The location of the hotel is perfect for a stay in Alkmaar, a beautiful town!

You really need a car.

You really need a car. The Dutch will tell you "go everywhere by bike - we do!" but they're used to the constant wind and rain. It's a "cute" village (650 inhabitants) with very few facilities (so a car needed) and the nearest supermarket is 4 kilometres away. You can't really walk anywhere as the roads are really only meant for bikes, tractors and local's cars - there's no pavement on most of the roads.

Picturesque village with a small, well-stocked supermarket,...

Picturesque village with a small, well-stocked supermarket, a large, pleasant terrace, and a restaurant with a variety of takeaways. Beautiful villages within a few kilometers include De Rijp and Graft. The Eilandspolder is stunning, with the Schermer and Beemster rivers to its left and right, respectively. It doesn't get more Dutch than this.
