It is on an interesting island served by a short ferry journey which runs 24 hours. Kaag Island has a village on it (Kaag), which although having an enormous ship yard, is a quiet traditional village with thatched cottages, a hotel, and bar/restaurants looking over the lake. It is the centre for many water sports. The hotel is quiet, unusual, and well priced. The host is welcoming and helpful.Guest review byRonUnited Kingdom

The breakfasts were great, and the staff (especially the guy at breakfast) was superb. Keukenhof is close by, and Leiden is also a very nice city to visit. The "ferry" you take to the Kaag hotel is a fun curiosity for kids. It operates 24/7, is quick, and costs €5.50 per car (as of April 2025). He found a secure place to store my bike which was good. The room was comfortable and clean and all anyone could ask for. The room tariff was very good value compared to other hotels we've stayed at.
