Beautiful little holiday apartment. Ease of access, location close to Sneek and at the lake, beach bar next door, fully equipped kitchen, easy and free parking in front of the house. The owners were friendly and reacted promptly. We were allowed to check in 2 hours earlier. Good experience, we recommend!

My wife's father had been born and spent his early years in Sneek before emigrating to South Africa in 1946 as a young man. In his lounge at home he had a picture of the Sneek Waterpoort that my wife grew up seeing every day. The sole reason for the trip was for her to see where he had grown up, and we wanted a hotel that had a view of the iconic Waterpoort. We were not disappointed! The hotel is 50m from the poort and the room was beautiful! Contemporary furnishings, very clean, with the most magnificent view of the Waterpoort and the town from the window and the balcony. Marcel, the owner and person we communicated with, was very helpful and gave us all the access information (security codes) we needed to get into the property. He also gave us some good recommendations for dinner (De Walrus Grand Cafe- excellent!) and breakfast (Royaal Belegd - also excellent and right next door to the hotel). He sent us a text with all the above information after we had spoken. We happened to meet him the next morning at the hotel and we chatted for a bit - a lovely man. We both enjoyed our stay at Hotel Hoogend and would highly reccommend it.
