Lovely windmill in a beautiful location. Rooms big and comfortable. Martin was a friendly and helpful host. His restaurant was of a high quality and the enthusiasm for the food served was good to see. Amazing breakfast hampers brought to the rooms that kept us going all day.

Everything was perfect here for our overnight stay. The apartment was lovely, clean and so comfy. Great huge comfy sofa, great heating, very comfy bed. Attached is the gorgeous pub/restaurant which served a beautiful delicious meal. Overall great accommodation!

Onderdendam is a tiny but authentic Dutch village.

Onderdendam is a tiny but authentic Dutch village. Very quiet, many farms. Not much to do here, except for relaxing, walking and cycling. Dining or shopping available in Winsum, a 10 minute car ride away (it's a super cute village). 20 min car ride from Onderdendam is Pieterburen, home base for organized 'wadlopen' excursions, the Pieterpad (walking routes) or a seal center.

Only a few minutes north of Groningen lies Onderdendam.

Only a few minutes north of Groningen lies Onderdendam. A very tiny village with only one restaurant (which is in the windmill itself). The "windmill hotel" De Moleenar has two identical rooms. The top room lies directly under the private museum (that you can visit as a hotelguest). The other room is just above the restaurant (can be a bit noisy before 10pm). The staff and owner are all super friendly and very accommodating. And the restaurant itself is a very nice fine food restaurant (up to 8 courses, 13.5/20 Gault Millau). Beware that you have to prebook, it only has space for 20 guests (or so).
