We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Beatrix very much. The hotel is located in a beautiful and quiet area, just next to the main street of the amazingly beautiful village of De Koog. The hotel itself is very elegant, cosy, and super clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would be happy to come back again one day!

Nice old village in Texel, with a lots of programs in the...

Nice old village in Texel, with a lots of programs in the haven like shrimp fishing and seal spotting. Also some good restaurants, bike renting opportunities, walking on the seashore… great place to relax and be away from the everyday hamsterwheel. We ate lunch at one of the local ‘visboer’ super tasty fresh fish and had dinner at the ‘Pakhuus’ , which was quite fancy.

Of the four larger villages on Texel, Oudeschild is the...

Of the four larger villages on Texel, Oudeschild is the quieter one and it has the additional benefit of the quite busy harbour where you can take seal watching or crab fishing tours, or simply enjoy the views of the large and small sail ships passing through. The maritime Kaap Skil museum is definitely worth a longer visit. The highlight is a very large interactive exhibition in the basement (that took more than 4 years to build) with detailed info about the role of the island in the golden age, the great Dutch ships and life on the island back in that day, including a massive VR installation and ship models of incredible detail. Outside the main building you walk through a 17th/18th century village with original workshops and living quarters, including a large windmill that is still operational today (you can buy locally milled flour there).

Whole cohorts want to go to Texel, and each has their own reason. We saw it as the end of a motorcycle trip and came to eat some excellent fish at Pakhuus on Oudeschild. It was a real success! But I'm not a beach vacationer myself, so I wouldn't rush into spending a week on Texel.

A picturesque village with a fishing harbor and charming...

A picturesque village with a fishing harbor and charming fishermen's cottages along the dike. There are plenty of restaurants, although they are closed or open only to a limited extent at the end of March. There are several shops, a bike rental shop, a supermarket, and the chip shop is open until around 6 p.m.

There was plenty to do in the town and harbor.

There was plenty to do in the town and harbor. Renting bicycles and exploring the island is highly recommended. You'll be treated to many beautiful moments, and the excellent network of bike paths makes it easy to get around.

The location is fantastic!

The location is fantastic! The restaurants nearby are all top-notch! The food is delicious. You can go anywhere from there. It's wonderful to stroll there and enjoy the sunrise on the benches by the water. Wonderful, peaceful atmosphere. Staying by the harbor is fantastic! We saw almost everything there in four days. Highly recommended!

Fantastic appartment in a beautiful spot on the edge of the world. The attention to detail was almost equivalent to staying in a proper 5 star hotel. If you ever stayed in an Oberoi, you’d know what Im talking about.
