The property is lovely and very welcoming, we got a nice introduction to the history of the building and the area from the owner upon arrival. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and also very quiet at night. Breakfast was delicious and featured local products. The owners also have a truly lovely dog!

We loved the Veenhuizen Prison Museum.

We loved the Veenhuizen Prison Museum. It showcased both the old history and the modern prison world, with an exhibition at the end. The museum also has plenty of activities for children. All the businesses in Veenhuizen, such as the brewery, cheese farm, and small shops, are dedicated and friendly.

Our favorite hotel in the Netherlands. Unique location and surroundings. A distinctly unique character. 1950s-style rooms. The glass, transparent extension is excellent; visually, you're completely outdoors. A warm welcome with a large reading table. Well-appointed decor with a classic design.

Quiet road, good parking.

Quiet road, good parking. Fantastic location; you feel like you're in the middle of nature, even though you're not. The decor of the room, reception area, and restaurant is beautifully coordinated with pleasant colors. Wherever possible, natural resources are used, such as dried flowers.

Het Koetshuis is fantastic.

Het Koetshuis is fantastic. What a lovely base for exploring Veenhuizen. A beautiful living room with a spacious kitchen. The rooms are spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds. Wonderful unobstructed views over the fields and woods. Perhaps a minor drawback is that the stairs to the sleeping area are a bit steep. Otherwise, a fantastic place.

It's teeming with history. What a fascinating story!

It's teeming with history. What a fascinating story! Everything looks impeccable, and there's plenty to do in and around Veenhuizen. Highly recommended if you enjoy peace, history, nature, cycling, and hiking in beautiful surroundings. I highly recommend a stay there.

Veenhuizen boasts so much history that a visit is definitely...

Veenhuizen boasts so much history that a visit is definitely worthwhile. There aren't many restaurants and cafes, and there's no supermarket either, so making reservations in advance for dinner, for example, is recommended. The cemetery, with its history, is also well worth a visit.

On an island of tranquility with an interesting historical background, this hotel, transformed from an old hospital is a delight to stay at. During the transformation the aspect of the hospital was kept, when appropriate, giving a charm to the buildings. My room was large and comfy, accessible through and right next to the restaurant, yet not noisy. The restaurant itself is a gastronomic experience I can only recommend to take. The breakfast is based on high quality products, tasty and fresh. All in all a very pleasant (a bit too short) stay.

The breakfast was nice, nothing fancy, but good. The room was nice and spacious, and the beds were excellent. The staff were very friendly and very nice. It is also a very nice spot to walk around and learn the history of Veenhuizen.
