Hattvika Lodge has done an excellent job with the photos here on booking.com and in their social media https://www.instagram.com/hattvikalodge/. So yes, it is indeed as amazing as it looks!! I ll write here what you maybe do not see in the photos, which is how friendly and accommodating the staff is!!! The Slovakian girl we were welcomed by when we checked in (unfortunately I dont remember her name) was so friendly and helpful actively showing us e.g. apps with northern lights radar etc. And then during breakfast we were approached by Roland who is organising the outdoor activities. We thoroughly enjoyed the conversation with him and learnt a lot about the place and habits. He gave us tips about where to drive, what to see etc. I full regret not having booked a kayak tour or something but for sure we will do so next time. We will come back to Lofoten both in winter and in the summer and we will look no further for our accomodation that Hattvike Lodge.

Having personally stayed in well over 20 places all across Norway this is definitely on of, if not the best I have stayed in. The value for money is unrivaled. The location is quiet but within easy reach of restaurants and supermarkets. The fit and finishing of the apartment is excellent, it has recently been renovated and it shows! The hosts are excellent and provided clear instructions and were quick to answer questions, even on new years’ eve! I can highly recommend anyone to stay here!

The location was amazing! It’s about a 15-minute drive from Leknes Airport and right in the middle of the Lofoten Islands, so we were about an hour and a half from both ends. The place was comfortable, had everything we needed, and we even saw the Northern Lights right from the balcony!

Our stay at the cabin was absolutely wonderful. The view of the mountains and the sea was breathtaking, and we enjoyed every moment there. Even after several visits to Lofoten, its beauty never ceases to amaze us. The hosts were exceptional—warm, caring, and incredibly easy to communicate with before and during our stay. Ballstad is a pituresque fishing village surronded by mountains. It's located right in the center of Lofoten which makes it a great base for those we want to explore the archipelago. Buksnes church is charming and a must see. Also it's near to Leknes where you can find a lot of stores and supermarkets. Ballstad will have a special place in our hearts as it was where we saw the most fantastic Aurora show which we were expecting for so long.

Perfect location in the center of the Lofoten Islands.

Perfect location in the center of the Lofoten Islands. We were able to take day trips to the north and south without having to relocate. The location outside of Leknes had easy access to the main road, gas and restaurants if not eating at our hotel - Hattvika Lodge.

There's not a lot to do in Ballstad plus I felt the view...

There's not a lot to do in Ballstad plus I felt the view from the lodge was just okay. It is on the water but overlooks a cod fishing plant which is authentic but there are other towns whereby the view is in a fjord and much nicer to look out to. Ballstad is convenient as it is a good midway point for the Lofoten Islands but I would recommend other towns to stay in for views and shops and cafes.

Very small town with limited hotel and dining options. You visit Norway for the scenery but driving into Ballstad was one of the least scenic roads we were on. No compelling reason too visit or stay.

brand new apartment in Ballstad, Norway, and it exceeded all my expectations. The apartment was fully equipped with high-end amenities, including a washing machine, a top notch TV, and a modern kitchen. We loved Villa Ballstad! Since we were the only guests at that time, we got an upgrade to a very nice room with balcony (where we were able to watch Northern Lights from bed!). This was already at the beginning of the stay very attentive from the hosts. The whole living area is really nice, the kitchen is quite big and offers everything we needed. We were also able to use the sauna, which was really nice :) We can just imagine that staying here in summer would be magnifique as well! Thanks a lot for a lovely time!
