Balclutha is a small rural country town, there all the facilities you need, plenty of places to eat out and shops etc. It is not a city with loads of night life. Dunedin is about an hour away It's a good base to explore the Catlins and the south of the South Island of NZ. The beach at Kaka point is only 20 minutes away there is a street food caravan serves excellent fish and chips. The drive from Balclutha to Cromwell, Queens Town, Wanaka, Milford sound and Lake Takapo are breath taking.Guest review byAnthonyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The new information centre and war memorial was fabulous.
The new information centre and war memorial was fabulous. The staff were ultra helpful and friendly and proved to be a real asset to the town. The views are fabulous around the town and I would recommend staying here to anyone.Guest review byAngelaNew Zealand - 8.0

So completely well equipped right down to new toothbrushes should you have forgotten yours and food supplied was just great. The view from the private deck looking out over Balclutha was a bonus off street parking made being there easy and convenient. We loved meeting the animals too. The bed was very comfortable that I felt like I was in a hotel! The views in the evenings and mornings were gorgeous. Owners were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Facilities were superb, we had stayed at some rather uncomfortable places on our trip and were in heaven!
