Small quiet area - for bird photographers: the famous...

Small quiet area - for bird photographers: the famous Mirador is good from dawn until about 830am (JUNE - we don't know about other months)...by 830am, Condors are heading up the Canyon - so the Mirador is not good for Condors after that time. It is great for Giant Hummingbirds and a couple other species (eg Peregrine) -

In Covid times, it was hard to get to Cabanaconde.

In Covid times, it was hard to get to Cabanaconde. There is only one official bus (Andalucia) and it departs from Arequipa very early or too late. There are also collectivos people can take to get there (local buses). Once there, the village is great, people are so helpful and the hikes are amazing! Please not there is no where to take money out, you absolutely need cash for everything.

If you're searching for a place to stay in Cabanaconde, you can stop looking. Homestay Pachamama is the place to go. The hosts are super friendly and will make you feel right at home. Home is also how the atmosphere in the restaurant feels, like dining with your family. You can chat with the other guests and hikers whilst enjoying the good food. The rooms are cousy,, the beds are comfy and the shower is hot. And also the friendly pets are a nice bonus:)

Amazing location. Many walks along canyon ridge starting right from hotel. Run primarily by a very hard-working and kind and thoughtful family. Food was farm-to-table. Views are so great you should spent at least two full days there to get full appreciation. Beautiful eco lodge and amazing hospitality by the family. Thank you so much for a great experience, and for organizing a 5am cab to Chivay for us :)

Pretty ok. Breakfast was extremely basic (coffee, one fat pancake, Marmelade and butter). There seemed to be only one person to manage the whole property. Had to ask about towels, shower wasn't warm,let alone hot. However, it is in an oasis down the canyon which probably makes it difficult to have a full hotel experience. It's enough to stay a night and hike away.

Hotel with beautiful garden, friendly staff and comfortable and good size rooms. The location is excellent as it is the first house from the Sangalle trail. The breakfast sets you up for the hiking and you can also order delicious dinner. Owner has lots of tips foe the hiking adventure as well.

we loved the staff there! Manfred and his family are the best people who welcomed us with open arms and were always very friendly and helpful! muchas gracias! it's a nice little Hotel, a little outside from main square, but in 5 mins walk you are at the main plaza. the breakfast was amazing!
