FAQs about hotels in Gdańsk

Charming Architecture And a Breath of History

Called the Amber Capital of the World, Gdańsk is the major shipping seaport and the most beautiful city along the Polish Baltic coast. It has everything a city of this scale needs: a fascinating history, great architecture and a friendly atmosphere!

Also known as Danzig due to its complex past with periods of Polish, German and self-rule, the city is part of the Tricity urban area together with the port city of Gdynia and the popular spa town, Sopot. It’s also a birthplace of the world-famous Solidarity movement, which helped to bring down the Communist rule in Poland initiating the end of the Cold War era.

Its charming buildings were rebuilt in a historical style after the near-complete destruction during the World War II. The colourful town houses of the Old Town can be admired by boat on the Motlawa River or enjoyed while strolling along the popular Long Street and Long Market.

While in Gdańsk, make sure you visit the 15th-century St Mary’s Church, the largest brick church in Europe, and you make a wish at the Neptune Fountain, the city’s patron. While in town, try the legendary local Goldwasser liqueur with 22 karat gold flakes!

Whether you reach Gdańsk by train or plane, Booking.com offers a variety of accommodation near the Lech Walesa Airport, the picturesque Old Town or the general city centre.

I recomend to take a tour guide, free walking tour suggest really amazing tours. St. Bridget church with amber altar must be seen, also westerplatte if you are interesting in WWII history (there is better to go by taxi). If you have extra day - visit Sopot - its only 15-20 minutes from Gdańsk by train.

It was a very beautiful place with a great mix of old history and modern history. I missed a few of the museums because 3 days was not enough time. I did a day walking between towns by the lakes and through woods - lovely undulating hills not too steep and easy to get to by public transport.

Sobre a cidade: Linda Sobre a estadia

Sobre a cidade: Linda Sobre a estadia Translated by Google to English so that more people can learn about it. Problems Points 1 and 2 were two nightmares for me and my wife that ruined our stay. I've traveled to 3 continents and I've never seen anything like this. 1) Key collection point: More than 1 hour and 15 minutes to find. 2) Apartment location 2-1) On the booking: 8 Szafarnia, Long Gardens, Gdansk, Poland, 80-755 2-2) In your instructions received on the day of arrival at 1:40 PM: Gdańsk, Szafarnia Street, 8/10/B. 2-3) Where I am: Gdańsk, Szafarnia Street, 8=Street door number; 3rd=floor; 10=interior door; B=2nd interior door. Simply put, it should be: Rua Szafarnia, Nr.8/3ºesq/porta.10/porta B.

Stunning place, amazing buildings.

Stunning place, amazing buildings. Plenty to do and see and all walkable. I recommend talking train to Sopot for the day (trains are really cheap and easy to use once you have mastered the ticket machines lol!!).

Very beautiful place with baroque and Gothic style buildings. Characteristic of Gdańsk are the colorful houses in the center and around the river. The marina is also very beautiful. Staying in the center you don't need transportation, you go everywhere on foot

Such a beautiful city!

Such a beautiful city! Really old buildings, so much history and uniqueness. Check out one of three carillons on top of a tower, and hear them play some tunes. Very walkable old town, plus Sopot (great beach) and Gdynia (tall ships, oceanarium) accessible by local trains (SKM). Did you know Fahrenheit was born in Gdańsk? There's also a 500 year old astronomical clock in the main Cathedral. A basement restaurant just behind/below the Neptune fountain and Artus Court was incredible, inexpensive, and has its own brewery on site too (Piwnica Rajców). Enjoy.

Super! Splendid! Brilliant! Amazing 😘 My best birthday ever. Cosy, clean, well equipt apartment, very nicely done. Fantastic location, short walking distance to Gdansk main attractions. Sandy beach few minutes away (get a cab, it's cheap here). Or take a ship to Sopot to famous pier and sandy beaches. Don't contemplate any more - pack up and go Gdansk! Choose Downtown Apartments Magical River View of course 😉

Beautiful hotel in a fabulous location right on the edge of Gdansk old town. Fantastic spacious bedroom with stunning ensuite shower room. Breakfast was spectacular in presentation, taste, quantity and quality. The restaurant in the evening was amazing too. All staff members were approachable, friendly and incredibly helpful.

Clean, good looking and spacious for the size. View was nice from big windows.Sofa was good even to sleep on. The host was welcoming and responded fast. Location was good, like a 5min walk to old town. Definetly a 10/10 experience, will for sure visit again if in gdansk. For sure beats a 5 star hotelroom.

Best breakfast during our holiday in Poland (7 different hotels) and apartment was very comfortable. Nice with honesty bar and terrace even if the weather was not great. Plenty of parking so no problem to find a spot for our car when we came back late in the evening.

Excellent breakfast, one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had anywhere. Water coolers with still and sparkling water on each floor are a great idea. Location is ideal. Less than 5 minutes walk from Old Town Centre.
