Our stay was great. The house was very clean and we were very comfortable. The situation of the house was perfect. The children had plenty of place to run and had swings, a trampoline and a trunk full of balls. These are details that are greatly appreciated.

Two small houses that have everything you want for your stay including a washing machine and a dishwasher. We enjoyed every single day we stayed here. The area is safe and quite isolated from the village itself. However, next to a main road - easy access. The area is huge and has a fireplace located in a safe distance from the houses. Lake edge is approx 200m away from the accomodation. The lake is naturally green, so there's no need to worry. There's a noise restriction in place so no motor boats are allowed. Makes it's much more enjoyable to use the kayaks/canoes provided by the owners. There's a double room downstairs and upstair is an open loft (no doors, just stairs going up). Spacious bathroom downstairs. The sauna and hot tub are next to each other (see photos below) and are both wood-fired so requires planning ahead if you'd like to use it (at least 3 h to warm up both).

Most people seem to drive through Wydminy on their way to...

Most people seem to drive through Wydminy on their way to the better known places of the Polish lake district. In fact I did the same, but made a mental note to stop on the way back as it had a nice vibe as I passed through – which turned out to be accurate. It would make a nice alternative base to explore the surrounding forests and lakes. I intend to return for a longer stay.

A wonderful place for a vacation.

A wonderful place for a vacation. A beautiful lake, a lovely beach. You can rent boats, kayaks, pedal boats, and SUPs. It's not as crowded as, for example, Mikołajki. This is exactly what you expect from a lakeside stay. No crowds or noise. True relaxation and pleasure.

The "humpback" bridge and its surroundings are ok, the best beach "by the pier", a bar and water equipment rental - bikes, boats, sups; great opportunities, if the infrastructure were developed, it would be the pearl of Masuria

This small town offers plenty of places to dine, but without the usual extravagance. Instead, it has a wide variety of shops where you can buy almost anything at reasonable prices. The city authorities organize events and try to create a civilized access to the lake and promenades, but residents are less concerned about keeping it clean.

My stay was in the Wydminy commune, specifically in the village of Czarnówka, and this place perfectly captures the character of a "true Masurian village." It's a great place for cycling; although there are no paths, road traffic is relatively moderate. Lake Szóstak isn't ideal for swimming, but it's quite large enough for boating, kayaking, or pedalo trips.

A small, intimate town in the heart of Masuria.

A small, intimate town in the heart of Masuria. Perfect for trips to larger, more crowded cities like Giżycko or Węgorzewo, to experience the peace and quiet of Wydminy again. The lakeside beach offers good infrastructure, and a beautiful view of the town cascading down from the hilltop towards the lake (the windmills spoil the view :( ). There are shops and a gas station. What more could you want? ;)
