Alcobaça is a beautiful place, very friendly, calm, relaxing and steeped in history. There are beautiful restaurants and cafés. We particularly enjoyed our lunch and dinner in Pratu restaurant and our dinner in António Robeiro restaurant. The central square is mostly pedestrianised and the monastery is well worth a visit and the adjoining church. The local people are very friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend a visit.

There was a festival going on the last weekend in August, and we enjoyed all the small vendors set up all around the town center as well as a really good concert! Otherwise, the Monastery was very interesting to visit, and there are a lot of good restaurants and pastry shops as well. We used Alcobaça as a "home base" for visiting other nearby tourist sites, such as Nazaré, Fatima, and Batalha - all worth the trip. We'd also nhighly recommend a quiet little family restaurant - Restaurant Portas de Fora, on a side street close to the monastery.

The town is lovely and the monastery is wonderful.

The town is lovely and the monastery is wonderful. Had a beautiful meal at the Restaurante António Padeiro Cannot praise this place highly enough. Wonderful staff, menu to suit all tastes and outstanding food. It rounded off a lovely trip to Portugal. Good food and wine enjoyed with friends, perfect.

Loved the town.

Loved the town. Much more historical depth than was first apparent. Had a good blend of history and modern. Beautiful old town with street cafés and shops. Ate there several times. Beautiful sce ery - good for leisuraly drives. In the middle of a lot history, and close to the northern beaches, without being touristy at all.

Alcobaça is a great village to visit, I have been there several times, and there is always something different to do for a weekend trip. António Padeiro as the best portuguese cuisine restaurant, requires a lot of appetite, ideal for lunch times, along with Prattus that is also very good. Osaka a japanese restaurant for any meal that is very above average with a lot of choices. Places to visit there is the Monastery in the center of the village, the medievel walls, the street fairs, Alcoa river garden, just being in a coffe lounge and relaxing is great. A lot to do if you feel like, if there is time to. Also, near Nazaré and all the sea uniqueness of that area.

The location. What a superb spot. We were able to enjoy the view of the square and Monastery from our breakfast table each morning. The hotel is based very centrally, you can easily walk to the centre of the town. Great on-site parking The hotel staff were welcoming Our room was comfortable and clean, including the beds

Lovely old property, clean and fresh, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and plenty to choose from. Beds super comfortable. Really handy for all the restaurants, cafe’s and of course the monastery. Would definitely recommend and will stay again when in Alcobaca.

Very welcoming hosts. Lovely pool and garden to relax in. Spotlessly clean. Alcobaça is a lovely town and Casa o Futuro is a great place to stay if you want to explore the surfing beaches but want to stay somewhere peaceful (car required)
