I don’t expect all hotels to be accessible for the elderly...
I don’t expect all hotels to be accessible for the elderly or disabled but I do believe booking.com should clearly indicate when a facility is NOT suitable for us. The photos and description of Casa da Umbria were accurate but didn’t tell the whole truth. I can normally make it up the 13-15 stairs to reach a first floor walk-up especially if there’s a good handrail. I didn’t expect to have to climb steep cobblestone walkways followed by 34 steps without a handrail ending in a death-defying 90 degree spiral-type turn to get to the front door. Then there were all the other defects noted in my review. The hostess prepared a wonderful breakfast and helped us schedule a taxi and bus to our next destination but she became very defensive when I mentioned the stairs so I shut up and didn’t even try to suggest anything else. I can’t say anything for or against Odemira in general because I was essentially trapped in our room until we left.Guest review byMargaretPortugal

We hiked from Sao Teotonio to Odemira. The location is excellent, right in the middle of town close to many bars and restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely hot water shower. The breakfast was delicious (early hikers, note it starts at 8am) and the owner was very helpful and friendly and arranged transport for us the next day.
