We thought the breakfast was excellent. We were unable to avail of it every morning as we had eating arrangements with friends but each morning we went it was absolutely superb - perfect start to the day. The rooms were superb, very tastefully decorated and comfortable. They are very spacious and quite at night. The cleanliness could not be faulted. The location is absolutely perfect for getting around beautiful Silves. The host was very friendly and welcoming. We would highly recommend staying here.

We loved our stay at Quinta dos 4 Ventos, the place was exactly what we needed. It was secluded, yet close to the city of Silves, the kitchen was equipped more than enough, the pool was amazing and the views were beautiful.

Casa Dolce is centrally located in the old town. It's an old, very narrow house that has been sensitively and skillfully renovated. The hostess, Sally, has thought of everything a guest could need. From umbrellas to mosquito repellent, everything is there. The well-equipped kitchen includes not only plenty of spices but also a well-stocked refrigerator. The highlight is the beautiful roof terrace with its many plants. Sally is always available via WhatsApp and is very friendly and helpful.

The house was ABSOLUTELY amazing! All charming, very stylish. So big an spacious. Big kitchen to Cook together, fantastic terrace with small swimming pool, big terrace. Every corner and room was incredible! WE COULD NOT IMAGINE BETTER PLACE FOR A STAY. Host Silvia always helpful 🥰 even we had oranges left for the Juice Photos do not describe the beauty of the place. This ‘gem’ of a property is located in the relaxing, countryside of the beautiful Algarve. Cidália was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble. The pool was great, we used it a lot and the games room was great fun. João, Cidálias’ son was just starting to launch a catering business and cooked us a delicious traditional Portuguese meal accompanied with Cocktails, (extra of course), perfect for a “night off”.

A beautiful, mediaeval town with a castle and lots of local...

A beautiful, mediaeval town with a castle and lots of local history. Fantastic restaurants of all kinds, the local residents are exceptionally helpful and welcoming. Don't come here for a wild time, it is several miles from a beach but you can easily get there by car or taxi, and there are no night clubs here either. Just go for the culture, countryside and the wonderful food and wine. NB>>the castle and cathedral are up a very long and steep hill with slippery, cobbled narrow roads, so consider this if you are of restricted mobility.

I liked everything about this town.

I liked everything about this town. There was a lot of lovely restaurants also. The river walk is wonderful and great to see the local people out enjoying themselves. Musaika restaurant has marvellous food and people lovely. Traditional Fado singer and musicians on Sunday nights - superb. A lovely refined heritage town. The castle is also very beautiful with lovely gardens.

Silves is a small town with a river running through it that...

Silves is a small town with a river running through it that isn't too "Touristy". There are plenty of bars, restaurants, shops and cafes. The cathederal and the Castle are worh a visit and the Medieval festival was jolly! Beaches are an easy drive away Its great if you're looking for a quieter holiday but still with enough variety of places to eat to keep you going for a week or two!

Loads of interesting history and some amazing locations to visit. Everywhere was walking distance, although some may find some of the inclines a little challenging. Ubers are plenty, cheap and the drivers are very professional and friendly. Indeed everyone there was, in my experience, friendly and welcoming and very helpful. I always felt very welcome and at ease. The restaurants and bars were great - the food and drink (especially the rose wine and port), was exceptional. Just one word of warning - the mosquitoes (certainly in April) were voracious and vicious. Take some repellant with you, along with your favourite antihistamine if you are sensitive to insect bites.

Silves is a pretty and traditional Portugeese town with history and architecture and facilities for the tourist. It is a good place to visit. The deserted and boarded up trainstation looks like something out of an old western. Taking the train in the Algarve is great, but sad that the people let their trainstations decay. This is an otherwise great inroad to Silves but two kilometers from town. A geographical oddity.

I am spending three months in Portugal, travelling around,...

I am spending three months in Portugal, travelling around, and Silves is one of my favourite finds. I loved all the storks and their nests, the castle on the top of the hill, and the abundance of nature. Our favourite restaurant was Cafe Ingles near the castle where we had a late dinner. There is a coffee shop, Ana & Joana, in a corner by the castle, which served amazing upside down orange cake. The owner was very kind and accommodating and made the visit memorable. We walked most of the time and found it easy to get around. When we were looking for the museum, I stepped into an art shop and the owner came out on the street to point me in the right direction.

The hotel is located right in the centre of Silves a beautiful historic town. Despite this it is very quiet and I heard no noise from other guests. My room was extremelly spacious. I was given a lovely bottle of wine and water provided every day. Breakfast is downstairs in the restaurant and was delicious yogourt, museli and honey and fruit, fresh orange juice, hot beverage and eggs with fresh bread and jams. Wonderful!

Loved the breakfast they catered for my gluten intolerance. We could see the castle from our balcony..the swimming pool was amazing, it was nice and clean. Hotel within walking distance of restaurants, supermarkets and tourist attractions.
