We enjoyed all aspects of Forte de Gaia. The welcome was efficient and friendly, even before we arrived I asked for and received prompt assistance with airport transfer. The room was excellent with plenty of space for our bags and belongings, the room service was also top grade with staff checking if all was ok several times a day. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of variety, with views of the city from the restaurant. It was nice to relax at the pool which was heated to a nice temperature.

One of - if not THE - best City Trip hotels I have ever been to. Everything was Just perfect, big, clean room, great rain shower with perfect water pressure, very comfortable bed with different pillows of choice. Even The wardrobe had a so well thought through concept! The best was the small balcony with the magnificent view of the Douro and Porto old town shore. Breakfast had fresh regional products and a great choice as well as good coffee. I am really more than impressed, it will stay my first choice for trips to Porto for sure!

The hotel location was fabulous with splendid views of Porto. The hotel itself beautifully appointed with high end furniture and amenities. Art pieces throughout the whole hotel complement the premium feeling of it. Great pools, great staff and amazing views. And all of this while keeping an authentic feeling of the previous building in this new repurposing for the hotel. Excellent.

Of course The Yeatman is tradionally Porto's finest hotel, certainly one of them, in most people's estimation. It remains a luxurious, charming and fascinating building and a superb place to stay or eat. The surroundings are elegant, classic and yet modern. The views across the river back to Porto itself are unbeatable. The multi-level design of the building set a precedent that has since been followed many times in Vila Nova de Gaia. All the restaurants are excellent. It's expensive, but relatively reasonable in shoulder season or off season. On this visit, I enjoyed as always seeing a bird of prey - a Harris Hawk, my cousin tells me based on photos - being used to scare off other creatures, and the lift interiors with their clever wall to wall panoramas of the Douro Valley and a wine cellar. Finally, it was sweet to be in a room named "Quinta do Crasto" after one of my favourite Douro wines!

We liked the bed (a king size bed made of 2 twin beds): very good mattresses, very nice sheets. The location is excellent: in a quiet part of Vila Nova de Gaia, a 10-15 minute walk to the metro, Jardim do Morro, the river front, the wine cellars and supermarkets. Bring your best running shoes and train your calves before coming! The apt. M, the one with the balcony on the front and the church-like window, is on the top floor, accessible by elevator. It’s a good size for a couple. The kitchen has everything to cook a simple meal. There is a secure luggage storage in the lobby, very convenient. Adelaide (room service) is very nice.

The views across the river Dourro to Porto are wonderful,...

The views across the river Dourro to Porto are wonderful, especially at night. A good choice of river cruises are easily accessible and the Port houses are a great attraction. Plenty of good, reasonably priced restaurants and Porto is 5 minutes away across the foot bridge. It's worth noting, however, that both Villa Nova Da Gaia and Porto, although beautiful, have very steep hills.

We visited during the Sao Joao festival and although extremely crowded- one of the most magical nights I've ever experienced. Such a beautiful sight to see, thousands of floating lanterns throughout the nights sky and a unbeatable fireworks show at midnight!

We chose this area as it was more relaxed than Porto central, but very easy to go between the 2 areas either on foot (downhill), or by metro, or tram. Also, all the port lodges are on this side of the River Duoro

The Hotel exceeded our expectations with its fabulous location, spectacular view of Porto, and easy access to the Duoro River. The breakfast was incredible, with so much selection, we had everything we could possibly want, and all the staff in the Hotel were so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning to the Tivoli Kopke again.

Fabulous location in Vila Nova de Gaia, close to the river Douro, the port warehouses and just a short walk across the bridge to Porto. Wonderful light apartment with high ceilings. Air conditioning was very welcome in 30+ degree heat. Fast and helpful responses from the host.

You couldn’t get a better hotel location than this. Amazing views over Porto and so convenient to all the main tourist attractions. The staff are all lovely and very helpful. Breakfasts could not have been better. Such choice! Really first class.
