This apartment is spacious and bright, the bedroom, living room and kitchen are all clean! Fully equipped. Air conditioning and hot water are very convenient. Pets are very welcome. Casa Dos Correios in Vila Real is truly a hidden gem! We stayed here for one night during our wine tour in the Douro region. The place is simply perfect and charming. The rooms are exactly as advertised, if not better. The beds were very comfortable and we had the best sleep here! One of the highlights is how the history of the house, once an old post office, is thoughtfully woven throughout the property. It was fascinating to learn about its past while enjoying such a modern and beautiful space. There is also a local hiking path with a waterfall closeby, which we unfortunately didn't have time to explore. Hope to come back someday! A big thank you to the owner/manager, who was very friendly and helpful :)

Our stay at this apartment was absolutely perfect! From the moment we arrived, our hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, always ready to assist us with anything we needed. We've never met such welcoming and attentive hosts before, and it truly made our experience unforgettable. The apartment itself was wonderful, clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. It felt like a home away from home. The location was convenient, and everything was well organized, making our stay even more enjoyable. Sadly, our stay has come to an end, but we will always remember the warmth and hospitality we received here. Communication with the hosts was seamless, and their kindness made all the difference. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming stay. Thank you once again for making our visit so enjoyable, we hope to return in the future!

    Vila Real is a nice town with all factilities available,...

    Vila Real is a nice town with all factilities available, some nice and affordabled places to eat or have a drink. It is within 30 minutes of driving from the Douro valley. A great ride will bring you in the wineries over there. Be prepared that wine tasting in the Douro valley is overpriced.

    Very hot but what a quaint place.

    Very hot but what a quaint place. Loved thecmin street and the little surrounding streets. So much history, many churches and amazing views across to the big viaduct if you follow the main street down to the old cemetery . Delightful place.

    There is a good choice of restaurants and bars in town.

    There is a good choice of restaurants and bars in town. Same goes for shops - no big stores but quite a lot of independent small businesses. There is a walkway across the valley which takes you past streams and small waterfalls and is worth the effort. The walkway has been re-furbished and is worth the effort to go across. Best to wear trainers or similar.

    The staff is very friendly and helpful, particularly Angela - who helped us with the reservation and with excellent hints and tourist information after our arrival. The place is an oasis of environmental tranquility, having beautiful gardens, trees, birds and an overall ecological approach. Vila Real is also pet friendly, which for us represented an enormous advantage. If a hotel does not accept our dog we would not patronize it. The location is excellent, not far from the city centre, from the House of Mateus and not far from the Douro Valley vineyards. The breakfast was good and the service always friendly. Excellent, we do recommend Vila Real.

    The location was the best but you cannot go for walks - the location is best for visiting Mateus. It is outside the town. The dining room has classical interior but what spoils it is a large tv screen blaring out programmes like in a motorway restaiurant

    Breakfast was lovely!

    Breakfast was lovely! All locally produced foods, eggs cheese and bread! Fresh orange juice! We had no tv in our room ( some rooms do have tv’s) but this wasn’t a big deal! Would have appreciated another mirror-in the main bedroom as the the bathroom had the only one but again we managed. I had my tablet so accessed everything I needed on that. The honesty shop sold wine beer bread and snacks at vey reasonable prices! Ginas restaurant down the road was great and very cheap
