Breakfast and dinner has been prepared freshly with traditional style. Atmosphere is super relaxed, the hosts are very friendly and make you feel welcome and provide support for anything you want. The central room in the pension is connected with an open kitchen where you get served breakfast or dinner (if you agreed to order it) or where you can enjoy to take your own food. During the evening several friends in the neighborhood and several guests enjoyed the evening in the garden served with beer, Palinka or other drinks. We enjoyed a lot our stay at Pension Salas and recommend it warmly to everybody.

The owners of this hotel are incredibly hospitable — you feel as if you’re sitting by the fire with old friends. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the food is absolutely delicious! We loved everything about our stay. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to escape the city and truly recharge. The surrounding nature is stunning, and you can feel that the owners have put a lot of love and heart into this house. We truly hope to come back one day! ❤️

It is a nice and quiet place surrounded by mountains.

It is a nice and quiet place surrounded by mountains. The roads are good, the village is in very good shape. If you want to hike Retezat, you have to drive about 25 minutes to Rausor where from you can start your journey. This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, especially the lake - I added the photos of our hike there. There is also an old ruin of a castle that you can climb to from the next village.

Excellent location for hiking and climbing to the top of...

Excellent location for hiking and climbing to the top of Mount Retezat. The owner offered us the option of breakfast or dinner. He prepares the food himself and he is very good at it. We took advantage of the offer of delicious and hearty dinners. Of course, drinks are also on offer (coffee, beer, limo). Please note, changing shoes is a condition of the owner, who wants to keep the interior clean. We respect this condition.

Wonderful scenery, probably much livelier in winter, but...

Wonderful scenery, probably much livelier in winter, but it's quiet in summer. I didn't find any places to eat or drink a coffee open in summer, so everyone makes do with the pension they stay in. It will be a beautiful resort, when most of the construction is finished and the side roads are paved. It's relatively easy to get to from Hateg and it's a good starting point for hiking in Retezat.
