the property is secluded and within a rural part of Rwanda and is simply magical. 1 day is simply not enough time, i recommend a min. 2 day stay so you can really rest and enjoy the property. there’s lots of nature around you and a lot of activities you can do like kayaking, massage, a community walk and bird watching so there’s plenty that you can do while also ensuring you relax. the food was really amazing, especially the communal dinner, the bed was super comfortable and there was plenty of hot water! honestly there’s nothing to fault - it was the perfect stay.

We had an amazing time at Ihema Lodges! This place far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived until check-out we felt truly looked after. The rooms were clean and comfortable with nice details throughout. Enjoying dinner with a beautiful backdrop of the lake was a highlight in itself. The staff was very helpful and flexible and made preparing for our safari in Akagera National Park a breeze. We already miss the tranquility and calm of Ihema and will be sure to return soon. Big thank you to the staff for creating such a memorable stay!

To all my fellow travellers: don't miss this place. It has just opened, they are still adding new services, and it is already a little wonder: The lodge, which is a little higher than the road, offers and magnificent view and it is placed very near to the entrance of Akagera national park. There is no closest hotel, except for those in the park itself; The rooms, which draw their character from the beautiful wooden style, are incredibly confortable, well designed, with a little terrasse perfect to read in this magic atmosphere; The swimming pool is simple but perfect to relax after the "African massage" of the safari road, with a beautiful view; The restaurant also points to the mountain in front, it has the same wooden style, a nice bar and a view to the kitchen to see the Chef in action; The place is also thought well so that it is serving and benefiting the community around: not only is it ecological and affordable, Akagera Park Inn buys its food from the local farmers, it is building a local shop to promote local crafts, it is working with local guides and massage centers, it aims to make its economic adventure an inclusive one that benefits the community. And of course, I have to mention the team who made everything to ensure that I had a good stay. For example, I received a warm welcome with fresh fruit mocktail and warm towel, they offered a little lunchpack for the safari, were extremely flexible with dinner and breakfast time, and put me in contact with the Ellie, a wonderful young guide who showed me around, took me for a brochette and some banana wine after the safari.

Fantastic stay. The hostess was *extremely* helpful in every aspect of our trip. Just perfect. Great food, great location. I will recommend friends and family to stay here.

Akagera Guest House is rustic with no frills. They provided a fabulous home cooked meal after Egide took myself and my teenage kids to the market to buy what we wanted for that evening catering for veggie and pescatarian. Super friendly at a great price. Also cannot praise Egide highly enough for sorting everything to visit the National Park the next day with no fuss or bother again at a great price for myself and 3 children. Highly recommend it.

Amazing responsiveness from the staff

Absolutely the nicest stay we had in Rwanda. The hotel is located in a centre with local pub, billiards, supermarket, fast food with delicious barbecue and hairdresser. The garden is cozy with seating areas. The hosts, staff and people in the village were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Close to Akagera National Park, the hosts arranged a car and a guided tour. Good breakfast and well-functioning Internet. One of the employees washed and ironed my white shirt. Fantastic stay, highly recommended. Thanks to all the fine people at AKAGERA Neighbors. Here we'll come back again...

It was a wonderful getaway with family, the views of the lake and the tranquility of the location was what we all needed. Enjoying the goodness God has given and He's creation.
