We were travelling over to Gothenburg so this was a great...

We were travelling over to Gothenburg so this was a great little stop over town en route. We visited the motor museum (which was actually rather good) and took a walk around the waterfront. Some nice bistros and eateries there, all you would need for a short stay. We sadly missed the broadcasting/radio museum nearby as it was closed. The town square itself is nice but there are a quite a few more modern buildings that look a little brutal. We moved on to Vadstena which was a short drive away and a fantastic place to visit. All in all Motala is a great base and to drive to lots of attractions in the surrounding areas. Thumbs up!

In Motala, you can walk, cycle, or take a short (4-hour)...

In Motala, you can walk, cycle, or take a short (4-hour) cruise along the Göta Canal; the Motala Motor Museum is a nice museum to visit; the town of Vadstena is also easily accessible by public transport and there is no difficulty in finding a place for lunch or dinner.

It was nice to walk around and look around.

It was nice to walk around and look around. Nice church, lovely park, roundabout decorated with bicycles... The weather wasn't entirely on our side. It rained a lot, and it was windy... We didn't get to stay at the hotel we booked, but had to stay at Hotel Carl Friman instead...

We missed the opportunity to travel on the Göta Canal, that trip was cancelled. But our trip exceeded expectations, nice people, good service, good food. Visited a restaurant at the harbor that served very good food. Borrowed bicycles for us. Rented a Q8 car, also to our satisfaction.

Cozy and lively city center, nice with the city park by Lake Vättern nearby. Pinchos offered nice tapas, and it was a very dog-friendly restaurant! The dogs were allowed to come in and lay on the floor at our table. Easy to drive into the city.

It is a small town that we easily walked across so 3 nights...

It is a small town that we easily walked across so 3 nights was just right. The best part was Griftegården, a fabulous cemetery with waterfalls, streams, fountains, plantings, etc. that I have never seen before in a cemetery. Well worth a visit!

Very clean and new place. Perfect for our short stay in Motala. The beautiful beach Varamon is just a few minutes walk from the house. Perfect for a family/friends of 4, a little bit small for 6 people. Overall a very nice place!
