FAQs about hotels in Istanbul

The Best of Asia and Europe

The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendour and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.

Take a stroll through the historic centre or the bustling Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.

If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.

Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for your holiday in Istanbul.

My first trip to Turkey so I'm very happy to explore the new destination. I quite like Sultanahmet rather than Taksim, Spice bazaar than Grand Bazaar. The transportation is convenient with Metro, Bus or tram but taxi is different - always overcharged! Some restaurants are good but some tried to offer you a number of side dishes (like salads) even small portion, but when the bill comes - not happy at all! The side dishes are nearly expensive like the main dish :( Anyway I do enjoy my trip to Istanbul!

I used to like coming to Istanbul in the past, but this year I had to come 3 times and I noticed how expensive it has gotten. Also more littered. Finally, I was scammed for the first time in years. The amount was only $15 so I'm not going to shed tears over it, but be cautious of the pushy men who try to "help" you with the Instanbul card top-up machines. Still, there are nice views and good food and lots of good people so even though Istanbul slipped significantly on the list of my favorite places, it hasn't left it altogether.

If you like the hustle and bustle of a busy city life, this is the city for you, if you dont, then stay away! There are people and cars and cats everywhere. The air pollution is not pleasant combined with the smell of kebabs cooking and the smell of meat and fish...would not recommend istanbul to anyone who is sensitive to smell or vegetarian. You can say goodbye to general food hygiene...it doesn't exist there. It is a hilly city, good walking shoes are recommended even if you take the public transport it is a large city and you have to walk from the main road to the mosques and other attractions.

The Topkapi Palace Museum is wonderful, the Ayasofya mosque is being strengthened from the inside and was filled with scaffolding when we visited in November 2025, it looked like it would be there for some time. The Archeological museum is also superb. The museums re very expensive, do look into buying a museum pass. There are restaurants, carpet and jewellery shops everywhere, all selling similar goods. If you need a fake Rolex this is the place to go. The carpet sellers are extraordinary skillful sales people. The Grand Bazaar is extraordinary. Notices are mainly in Turkish, if your not a speaker it's sometimes difficult to know what's going on.

Istanbul: An Unforgettable First Impression

Istanbul: An Unforgettable First Impression Istanbul is truly an enchanting city! The transition between two continents is not only geographically unique but also palpable in the architecture and the atmosphere. From the majestic Hagia Sophia to the hustle and bustle of the Grand Bazaar, the city is breathtakingly beautiful and brimming with history around every corner. The people are incredibly friendly and hospitable, which makes exploring the city very pleasant. Everywhere I went, I was helped with a smile. As for the cuisine: the food is absolutely delicious! The diverse Turkish dishes, from the fresh fish along the Bosphorus to the perfectly prepared kebab and the sweet delight of baklava, are a highlight in themselves. A small warning: As in any major metropolis, you should be cautious with taxis. It is advisable to always pay close attention to the meter, as some drivers might try to charge a higher price if you are not paying attention. Despite this minor inconvenience, it certainly does not outweigh the unforgettable experience the city has to offer. Istanbul is a destination I can recommend to everyone.

My wife and I loved Istanbul.

My wife and I loved Istanbul. We particularly loved the beautiful Mosques including Hagia Sophia as well as the Blue Mosque. We also loved the basilica cistern Topkapi castle as well as the rooftop bars and restaurants around the blue mosque and Hagia Sophia. The Bosphorus river cruise was ok but not great. You could take or leave this. The fish markets were great for fresh seafood and we also enjoyed seeing the 100s of fisherman along the bridge from old town towards the grand bazaar. Please be careful in crowded places especially public transport for pickpockets. Watch out for being pushed and shoved as it may be a distraction for this to occur.

Exceptionally elegant contemporary interior design throughout the premises. Professionally and highly trained welcoming and very polite and helpful staff. Micheline star worthy restaurant and room service. Spotless cleanliness across the board. Breath taking spa , very well equipped and spacious gym. Best value for money by country miles out of my hundreds of stays at 5 star hotels across the world, I’ll definitely stay there every time I go to Istanbul.

Some places give you a good memory for a Lifetime and this place was one of them. It is located near Taksim square which is also close to Metro and bus shuttle to both the airports. Miss Sabrina is very kind and helpful and so is the main owner of the hotel. Do visit this cute place if you are ever with your girlfriend or wife or ever in Istanbul.
