The atmosphere was inviting and relaxed, making it a perfect getaway for a couple 💕 The staff was super friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile. This was the best vacation of our lives. The quality and service provided by the staff were absolutely outstanding—we have never experienced anything so good before. Our special recognition goes to the restaurant staff: Ally, Taty, Shani, Ibrahim, Abdilah and Irine as well as the reception team and the gentlemen and ladies responsible for keeping everything so clean and tidy. The food was excellent, and the chef is truly talented. This is a perfect place for anyone seeking peace and relaxation, far away from crowded streets. We will definitely return here in the future.

Everything, the place has a magical atmosphere, spiritual and laid back, like in a tropical garden, my room was top, super big with a terrace overlooking palms and one of the pools. Good food every morning, help from everyone there and the massage of Maria in their super cosy spa was something I will never. forget, one of the best of my life. Maria and Paco are a Spanish couple who owns the place and make it unforgettable for everyone. If you have a chance don't miss to go there!

We had a really great stay in Zanzibar Queen. Staff were really friendly and provided amazing service. The food was great and it was exciting having the different themed nights to look forward to. Loved all the activities available too such as badminton, Yoga, snorkelling, spice tour etc. The hotel surprised us with an amazing room upgrade, fruit and bubbly for our honeymoon which was such a nice welcomed surprise! Matemwe is a perfect destination for anyone who wants peace and quiet, but still has access to great activities. You can easily arrange dolphin watching and swimming tours – look for Captain Lucho, he helped us with everything and made the experience amazing. A beautiful and relaxing place to stay!

Matemwe was nice - the beach part.

Matemwe was nice - the beach part. Sad to see the poverty behind the gates of the hotel. The tides were a bit different from what we have expected as the water would leave the beach at 9am and return around 5pm. If you did not make it to swim early in the morning, you missed it. We took a reef walk which was beautiful, saw a lot of see creatures, and that was very amazing experience. Also took a boat tour to see the sunset - it was worth the trip. Did not like how the locals would just stop on the beach and start shouting at you to buy smth. Also the part of the hotel beach is not segregated in any way, which does not give you a privacy enough. The food was amazing though - the hotel goes much beyond - and all day brekfast concept was amazing.

Matemwe is ideal for relaxing and spending quality time with friends and family. Matemwe is near Mnemba island 🏝️ for swimming with dolphins 🐬 . We rode bicycles 🚲 around the village and the place felt very safe. There are few alternative places for lunch or dinner. Not too far from stone town.

The snorkeling was a true adventure, with well-protected marine life and crystal-clear water. Spotting the dolphins was an unexpected bonus! Visiting the sea turtle rehabilitation center and feeding them was a special experience.

Matemwe beach was huge and totally uncrowded - some days we were lucky to see 10 - 20 people pass by! Loved the Massai beach hawkers - friendly and laid back happy to have their pictures taken - no hassle or relentless chasing - once told 'no' they respected our space. Recommend a day trip to Nungwi for a completely different vibe and fantastic sunset. Matemwe is somewhat isolated and if you want to get around you need to secure the number of a local taxi driver - always bargain hard beforehand. Most hotels organise trips/tours but at a premium.

It was a quieter beach which was nice which also meant not too many people hassling you to buy things. Those that did were respectful. Beach is nice but the sea depth is very shallow most of the day so swimming wasn't the easiest and there was a lot of seaweed when we were there.

Matemwe Beach must be one of the most beautiful beaches in Zanzibar. You can walk for kilometers on beautiful white soft sand. The beach is fairly quiet so you are not disturbed by the "beachy boys" all the time. You look onto Mnemba Island and doing a snorkelling excursion there from Kiva is very easy and accessible. Being on the eastern side the sun rises are magnificent. Breakfasts and dinners were good at Kiva with staff happy to assist with any requests.

What a gorgeous villa. An absolute paradise, right on the Indian Ocean. The decor is stunning with a wonderful combination of polished concrete and wood. Air conditioning in each bedroom and a welcome pool. Staff were very helpful with booking transfers. Plenty of restaurants along the beach, Zanzibar Queen being our favourite. A perfect spot for a getaway. Would love to go back.

It is far from the village, therefore giving a cozy & refreshing atmosphere. We enjoyed every moment there. The food was amazing, the service was excellent, ocean view suite was breathtaking. Such a perfect place for a couple or even with kids ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. I would definitely choose sunshine marine lodge again. Best Zanzibar experiences

Nice place to stay, close to the beach and the local village. Great view from the apartment. Very friendly staff who always helped us. Food in the restaurant was great. Don’t care about opinions there was no Zanzibar flow.. they just didnt meet right people at the bar ;)
