Very progressive city investing in preserving its amazing...
Very progressive city investing in preserving its amazing architectural past and implementing big plans for its future. It’s not without problems or challenges as we encountered some of the homeless population and under class, but impressed with the communities vision for development and attracting young professionals.

We only had planned on staying for one night on our way to...
We only had planned on staying for one night on our way to visit our son and family in MN. However we ran into a nasty blizzard!!! The staff was extremely helpful and accomodating, guiding us to nearby places to eat, and allowing us to extend our stay another night due to the blizzard and highways being shut down.

We stay in Mason City to go to Surf Ballroom events in Clear...
We stay in Mason City to go to Surf Ballroom events in Clear Lake. There is great things to see in Mason City though. We have checked out Stockman House museum, Historic Park Inn hotel, Charles MacNider Art museum, and the walking house tour.

They have remodelled much of the hotel, but it is such poor quality work it is a pity. A little attention to detail would help - it could be very nice if they just did it properly.
The photos show my newly decorated room's door stop. And the reception area restroom - a plastered over door, and architrave installed by a three year old. There are endless examples of this shoddy work!!!

The hotel was very clean and the room was a decent size. It was nice to have enough room to not feel cramped. The breakfast was also better than other hotels we stayed in.

Central location. Frank Lloyd Wright's last remaining hotel. Attentive, friendly staff. Nice bar area.
