I appreciated its cost, convenience, and refundability. Dining options are Kansas/dreary, but the motel has no responsibility for that. I was driving from Maine to Seattle via Memphis. That is why I stayed here.

Only stayed One night which was good because they did not have an elevator. Made this reservation. By phone at the last minute-they could have said they didn’t have an elevator and that we would have been on the second floor. We came in at midnight, exhausted only to learn we had to carry our stuff up to the second floor. Breakfast was good. Staff very friendly.
Sorry, we would not be willing to stay here again . Who has a 2-story hotel without an elevator?

This is a great alternative if you are tired of run of the mill hotels. The Dolly-Parton themed small apartment has several rooms, inc kitchen, and is decorated with care. There is a nice deck and you are just a block or so from a small Kansas downtown with a little sports bar/restaurant (also 100 years old) and a few specialty shops. We enjoyed our stay here, wandered the small downtown. Very nearby is the outstanding small town of Lucas, with many fabulous grassroots artist attractions, very worth the visit if you love art.

I liked that the Lodge at Russell was away from the interstate and traffic noise. The accommodations were quite adequate and our room was clean. The breakfast was a step above most motel offerings, especially some of the big chains. The homemade cinnamon rolls were awesome, as was the biscuits and gravy. Our bath towels were large and fluffy.
