FAQs about hotels in San Antonio

The Legend of the West

San Antonio in Texas is home to 2 of the state’s top attractions – The Alamo and the Riverwalk. One of the city’s former Spanish missions, the Alamo was the site of a deadly battle that cost folk hero Davy Crockett his life. The other remaining missions – Concepcion, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada with its aqueduct – are dotted around the city. The attractive Spanish Governor’s Palace also remains.

The San Antonio River runs right through the city, below street level. Known as the Riverwalk, its banks have been cleverly developed to house riverfront restaurants, bars and shops, and are spectacularly lit for Christmas. There are several San Antonio hotels by the Riverwalk which are also close to the Rivercenter Mall, the city’s biggest shopping centre, while La Villita artisan village offers more traditional crafts.

Across the road in Hemisfair is the Tower of the Americas, a tall observation tower with a revolving restaurant overlooking the Alamodome, a huge sports and convention venue, home to the annual Alamo Bowl collegiate football game. Booking.com offers several San Antonio hotels near the Alamodome, and more accommodation near San Antonio Airport.

On the outskirts of the city are Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. The city also hosts the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the country’s biggest Western events.

There is so much to see and do.

There is so much to see and do. We go yearly for Day of the Dead celebration. At the sane time was a Paul McCartney concert and comicon. Just to name a few The costumes and parades are spectacular. No city we have been in Texas or Mexico does it like SA. They are the best. There are many more thngs to do and unique places to shop. It is the epicenter of Texas history with the Alamo and historic hotels. We left our car at the hotel and walked or Ubered everywhere.

Always have a great time in SA.

Always have a great time in SA. This visit we tried to do some new things and were not disappointed. Paid a visit to the Japanese Tea Gardens and it was an awesome experience. There is no fee to enter the garden and plenty of things to see, and they have the biggest Koi I had ever seen. Also visited the SAS general store. Did not buy any shoes but the location is like and old country store and lots of fun things to see. That same day we visited the San Antonio market square, and spent hours looking at all the cultural items and fun gifts. San Antonio is perfect for a family vacation!

I lived in San Antonio for 15 years before moving.

I lived in San Antonio for 15 years before moving. I love San Antonio; I was just staying in the wrong part of the city. I love really it there. There is work for anyone and everyone, the housing market isn't bad at all. If you live in the right part, you can pretty much walk everywhere.

Beautiful, historic buildings with a ton of history to explore. Staying near the River Walk is optimal since we walked from there to many destinations. We loved the light show at the San Fernando Church, La Gloria restaurant in the Pearl District, and Leche del Tigre in Southtown. Market Square reminded us of markets in Mexico and Peru and La Villita also had lots of interesting small stores. Everyone was warm and friendly and late September was still plenty warm for shorts and sundresses!

Hotel was relatively near the Riverwalk and Alamodome, we were able to walk. San Antonio has done a good job connecting this side of I-35 to downtown with well lit streets and wide sidewalks. It is quite possible to leave your car at the hotel and walk downtown. The hotel is a good price for what you get, a simple stay, free parking, a good bed and clean bathroom.

Good location by Riverwalk. The suites were spacious with a large bathroom and separate living area. Had read a few mixed reviews, mainly on other sites, so the hotel exceeded my expectations. No real issues parking a hire car. We used the city-run lot on Houston Street about 5 minutes walk away and there were no problems.
