We didn't spend a lot of time exploring during this trip, but did find several nice parks along the waterway and lake. There were a few coffee shops and restaurants that looked good, and we were happy with the ones we tried. The town is small, but not too small, with a lot of the common stores and chains available. We got delicious coffees at Glas, right on the water, and enjoyed the view. We had supper at Stubborn Brothers brewery - food, prices, and service were all fantastic! We had breakfast at Shawano's Cafe - good quantity of food for the price. The wedding we attended was held at the lodge at Shawano County Park. The space worked great, and we really enjoyed the park area, beach, and outdoor fireplace.

Staff was very kind and helpful, courteous and quick. The hotel was clean and put together well. It was very quiet and was easy to navigate. The parking lot is large and easy to get in and out of, we came after a large snowfall, and it was plowed nicely. The room was initially cold but did not take long to heat up after turning on the independently controlled HVAC. Great value for the price!

The good news: the room was perfectly clean, I was able to sleep comfortably, and the hotel was quiet (probably because there were very few guests—only five cars in the parking lot). The attendant was pleasant enough, although my calls to the front desk went unanswered.

This hotel is an independent hotel, formerly part of a national chain. The accommodations are basic and dated, yet comfortable. The staff made us feel welcome and was responsive to all our questions. The hotel housekeeping staff was fantastic.

There wasn't one thing I liked about this hotel. Very outdated. Lighting is horrible. Room was dirty.
