Nice bungalow hotel near the center of Tam Coc. The owner is so kind, he gave us suggestions about what to do around and what to see. We rented motorbike and there are free bikes. The staff is always smiling and give you warm tea when you come back from trips. Room and bathroom are nice. Highly recommended the foot bath in the evening!!!

Ninh Binh – Vietnam’s Hidden Gem

Ninh Binh – Vietnam’s Hidden Gem Ninh Binh absolutely blew me away. It feels like a quieter, more peaceful version of Ha Long Bay but on land — stunning limestone mountains, rice fields, and winding rivers everywhere. I took a boat ride in Tam Coc, and it was incredibly scenic and calm, passing through caves and local villages. The people were welcoming, and the food was delicious and cheap. It’s the perfect spot to relax, explore nature, and escape the city rush. Easily one of my favorite places in Vietnam!

We spent two days in Ninh Binh and could have easily spent a day or two longer. It's a very laid back area and there is lots to see. We stayed between Trang An and Tam Coc and used bicycles to get around. The quieter location suited us but for younger travellers Tam Coc is more vibrant. The walk to the top of Hang Mua viewpoint is best done in the early morning (we went before breakfast) so it isn't too crowded and not too hot. There were mountain goats roaming around when we walked up (around 7.00am) but they'd gone by the time we descended and more people were arriving. We didn't take the boat ride in Tam Coc but we took a boat ride in Trang An. The scenery seems more mountainous around Trang An than Tam Coc. On the day we went the water was high so we couldn't go into the caves and there was only one route open, which seemed to be a mix of the other routes. The boat trip lasted around 2.5 hours and was excellent. We also visited the old town at night, which was nice. It's all lit up and there are some good places to eat on the waterfront. Bich Dong temple is also worth visiting. There is a staircase leading up to a smaller shrine and to the left of that there is a passage through a bat cave and up to another small shrine outdoors.

The view is stunning.

The view is stunning. I was shocked of how beautiful and cleaned this city is. You can enjoy cycling around the city under the quiet, historic and cultural atmosphere. At the famous landmarks, there was no scam or shoving, hustling, jostling. The goat meat in Ninh Binh is so delicious

Overall, the experience was very good.

Overall, the experience was very good. Trang An and Mua Cave were absolutely must-visit places—stunning and unforgettable. If there’s one small note, I found that prices around Tam Coc were a little higher compared to Trang An, but it didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment of the trip.

The location is good we could walk for about 7 minutes to the city center of Tam Coc. It was even nearer with a bicycle. The staff were friendly, resourceful and helpful in terms of advising on which executions options we could look at. They arranged everything for us. On our last day we choose to experience traveling by train from Ninh Binh to Hanoi.The hotel sent us to the train station with their own car, their driver and Nguyen one of the receptionists came along and sorted everything for us.

Good value room comfortable beds and amenities. Staff were very kind and offered us free juices in the evening and helped us arrange motorbike hire. Hotel is basic but really comfortable and just what we needed. Great location with walking distance into the centre to restaurants and cafes and a short ride to attractions in Tam Coc. It was also a short 15mins motorbike ride to Trang An and Ninh Binh centre.

Location was amazing - centred in the middle of tam coc, plenty of food options nearby. Hotel provided breakfast which was very delicious. Owner was very accomodating - helped us arrange transportation to various places in Ninh Binh and to the airport when we left. The stay was really good value.

Amazing hotel, nice pool and great rooms, the bed is literally huge. It’s a short bike ride away from tam coc centre and they have bikes to rent for free. Great place to relax a bit while also seeing the sights of ninh binh. Friendly cat walks around on the property was nice to have some company!
