An exceptional house with a wonderful garden in a sweet little town. A lot of effort has gone into furnishing and decorating the house. Kitchen is well equipped and the braai at the poolside an absolute bonus. I can absolutely recommend this house. Communication with the owner was super easy.

The hotel was very well furnished and appointed - we wanted for absolutely nothing. King size bed, beautiful linen, air conditioning plus an overhead fan and a balcony which had a fantastic view. We had our two excellent breakfasts outside as the weather was so good

Fantastic place that makes you feel that you have travelled back in time. The hosts are wonderful and the dinner concept (everyone eats at the same table) felt strange at the beginning, but turned out to be a lovely experience. The food was great, we were travelling with a picky toddler and he didn’t leave hungry. We’ve stayed for 2 nights and felt like it was too short.

Gasteria Grange cottage is centrally located, so that Calitzdorp center and also the wineries are in easy walking distance. The lovely owner are living on the same ground and are a good source for ideas how to spend the day. The self-catering cottage has one huge room and an en-suite bath room with a nice huge shower. It is fully equipped, the beds are comfy and there is also a safe parking available. A big plus is the airy, roofed terrace, which can comfortably be used even on hot Karoo days. We can highly recommend staying there!!

The town is a gem and the houses in general are next level. The only negative is the number of young coloured men asking to do and be useful when theyo are not required to do anything. One feels badgered.

On arrival, we were greeted by overflowing sewers pouring out into the main road. Smelt so bad, we could not go near the liquor store near the main road. Apart from that issue, the rest of the town was great.

The food we had at various places were really good.

The food we had at various places were really good. De Kranz and Zomlani. The town was without water while we were there because of a pipe that had burst in the main road which caused a detour for quite a couple of days. The warm baths were closed. A few restaurants were closed which was disappointing.

We had travelled through Calitzdorp a few times many years...

We had travelled through Calitzdorp a few times many years ago but this was the first time we stopped and stayed. Calitzdorp is very interesting: it has many wineries, excellent eateries, historical sites, the hot spa isn't too far out of town, and the weather was great - moderate during April.

Calitzdorp is very conveniently situated for day trips to the scenic passes such as Seweweekspoort Pass, Swartberg Pass and Meiringspoort Pass. It is also a stones throw away from Oudshoorn, The Cango Caves and Mossel Bay. Beggars harassing shoppers at the local supermarket made shopping rather unpleasant. Otherwise, it was a pleasant place.

I've stayed in Calitzdorp and it's surrounds several times...

I've stayed in Calitzdorp and it's surrounds several times and I love it. If you're a traveler to South Africa, you need to plan to also go over the mountains separating the coastal Western Cape FROM the Klein Karroo. The Western Cape coastal influence is frankly tamer, albeit very beautiful BUT is very reminiscent of parts of Europe. The Klein Karroo is hasher in geography, topography, agriculture and people. It's pure magic AND the people are very friendly and helpful. Go there, it's a good experience.

The cottage is very spacious with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and a huge living area. The car was parked out of sight from the road so it felt really secure. All the necessary implements were provided for a relaxed braai and food preparation. We really felt at home.

A very warm welcome, especially from Liefie, the dog. A very good value for money option, lots of space to languish in beautiful garden. Swimming pool very handy in Karoo heat. Tranquility and serenity. Nice place from which to take stunning sunrise and sunset walks.
