Location perfect , very close to the hole in the wall. 10 minutes easy scenic walk. Nice to use a local guide to support their income. They are friendly; helped my blind brother-in-law and even took our photos. We had our own breakfast and could buy milk at reception, nice little shop

Amazing place to visit...

Amazing place to visit... Just be sure to get yourself a 4WD or 4x4 if you plan to go to Hole in the Wall. The off road tires are a must have for the gravel heading to Hole in the Wall. What a wonderful place, the Boiling Point is also a great sighting not to be missed when you're there.

Beautiful place, very wild and untouched.

Beautiful place, very wild and untouched. But means nothing if you can't go to the beach. Does not feel safe and you get followed by locals who are always harassing you for money. We had two locals following us and making phone calls even though we changed our route multiple times to try and loose them, they persisted in following us. Lots of the routes to the beaches and around the beaches are though forests and there are always locals loitering around there and they always engage you even if you say no. We also had a local who approached us on the beach and said he will wait for us by our hotel gate when we told he we didn't have money on us. Which means he was watching us already.

Coffee Bay is beautiful but neglected & poor.

Coffee Bay is beautiful but neglected & poor. Hole-in-the-Wall is beautiful. Roads best to be travelled during daylight - some gravel areas, free-roaming cattle, goats & sheep that cross as will. Take own food & bottled water. Restaurants serve food but offerings are limited as replenishing supplies does not happen on daily rotation so be flexible about what you expect to find. We had no Vodacom service but had MTN reception. To see Hole-In-The-Wall (HIW), go to the hotel for a coffee before /after your walk & so you can park at hotel & prevent from being accosted by locals wanting to act as unwanted guides. Be mindful that locals will just join you as you walk to HIW, we did not ask for directions/ask him to be our guide nor did he ask if he can be our guide - but he did ask R 150.00 pp for a 15min walk when we returned to the hotel after walking to HIW (which we did not pay) & he did say with that he has done working for the day - 9H45. If you feel you want to be guided, best to negotiate a price upfront. There are beautiful areas to hike & run along the coast, also gravel roads along the coast for trail running/walking.

The scenery was very good.

The scenery was very good. The town Coffee Bay needs a good cleaning from rubbish lying around. Damaged pipes for drinking should be repaired soon after the flood. Maintenence of the road to the hole in the wall lies still half finished for years despite requests of the community.

We did not spend enough time in Coffee Bay (only one-night).

We did not spend enough time in Coffee Bay (only one-night). For that we feel we need to return and spend at least three nights. It's a rustic place for nature lovers. It's in the village so you can experience the local way of life at your own pace. There are also interesting trails to hike and other adventure activities (fishing, surfing, etc) to tackle. There is no diving.

If you visit “ Hole in the wall”.

If you visit “ Hole in the wall”. Avoid going through Coffee Bay. We drove through Coffee Bay 3rd July 2024 , it was terrifying. We were in 4x4 with a trailer. On our return trip to the N2 , locals at our accommodation advised us to use an alternative road… 5th of July 2024. It was so much better. Definitely the road I will always use. We supported the local guides; sales ladies etc. They need the money and they were helpful and were selling beautiful hand-made stuff. Next time we will bring a bag of dog food , so many stray dogs 😭😭

We spend 2 nights here and it was a fantastic experience. The bungalow is very spacious and has a great view on the ocean. The biggest selling point is the extraordinary friendliness and helpfulness of the owners. They will help you with everything you need and they have the cutest dogs and cats. We really enjoyed the delicious home made breakfast and the walk from the garden to the whole-in-the-wall along the coastline. The owners also replied very quickly and helped us choose the best way coming to coffee bay.

I liked the beach right at the backyard, the staff is friendly and professional, we were assisted with our luggage on arrival, the yard is perfect for family with kids we enjoyed inside the yard so much is more than just a stay, we felt very safe, it is quiet except a few guys there who arrived after us they wild but I think they were told to hold up, the view from the hotel of nature just perfect and well maintained grounds. Breakfast was super with a view of a cruiseship 👌🏽

Brian, Neil, and the team were excellent hosts/hostesses and served amazing value for money, meals. The views from the deck are just breathtaking, and even though Coffee Bay did not have power for 3 to 4 days, there was a generator at Coram Deo, so we did not feel out of sorts! Thanks for warm hospitality and fresh seafood....Neil even made a plan for me to remove my Dec nails when it became too much ❤️ !

Travelling the wild coast takes a lot of driving, but Coffee Bay is worth the trip if you enjoy spectacular natural beauty (amazing cliffs, dolfins, whales) and local culture (Xhosa). Ask the hotel for a local guide (Silas: + 27 78 238 8060) to show you around for an unforgettable tour. We definetly enjoyed it .

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Both Belinda and Theonis went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. Great location with beautiful view and the hotel is closer to the Hole in the wall. The food was tasty and they made sure our dietary requirements are met.
