It is a small (fenced) paradise on the edge of a town famous for its diamond mining. This is the main residential building of the owners and then several separate houses in the middle of a beautiful garden. Next to the main building is a stylish swimming pool, bar, barbecue area. All this available to visitors. everything is complemented by a beautiful garden and palm trees around the pool. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The 3 dogs from the owners were the nicest dogs we have ever experienced, I loved them. Our house/cottage was a beautiful stylish building faced with brick and with a thatched roof. Downstairs was a kitchen, a dining area, a living area and a bedroom with a double bed. Upstairs there is one single bed and another bedroom with a double bed. The only drawback was the lack of air conditioning, when it was really hot under the thatched roof in the attic. Breakfast was prepared by the owners in the form of ingredients in our private kitchen. Homemade bread, milk and everything was great.

There was a great deal of choice from fresh fruit and juices, cereals, yogurts, porridge, pastries, breads, cakes, pancakes, waffles, cheeses, jams, you name it right up to a fully cooked English type breakfast made freshly to your requirements, omelettes etc. coffees assortment of teas. Blades has an authentic African feel without the usual cliches. It is only a short drive from Pretoria and near the Roodeplaat dam. The ambience is excellent, and the service is even better. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Our steak and fillet dinner was terrific and well-presented. Our stay at Blades was the highlight of our trip to South Africa.

Everything Location,good food,lovely staff. beautiful lake and the place is stunning. From the reviews I read the lake did not stink, read before you book and complain it is not a self catering facility so stop complaining that you can not bring food in it says it on their website. I enjoyed not having to pack foods and let the hotel treat us. Great value for money.

Beautiful and secured place in a very nice gated community. Monica will help if there is any question or problem. Security is strict but very respectful. There is also a nice restaurant just 200 m from the house. Absolutely recommended. I hope we will return soon.
