Directly across from the National Arts Centre, this non-smoking, landmark hotel is only steps from major attractions, and offers spacious accommodations with 49-inch TVs and first-class amenities in the city centre of Canada's capital. The staff was always accommodating. E.g., When checking in, I asked if I could change my assigned room to one on a higher floor: done! For meals, I sat at the bar as I was travelling by myself. All the servers were very friendly and attentive. I was there on Remembrance weekend, and as the Lord Elgin is very close to Parliament Hill and the Cenotaph, I met patriotic people from all over Canada, including members of our armed services.

Located on site, the trendy Albion Rooms restaurant uses locally sourced produce to create an ever changing menu. The bar is stocked with local craft beers, a selection of wines and a number of house made cocktails. For those who prefer in-room dining, room service is available from 06:00 to 22:00 every day. Great location. Amazing room. Good gym. Smart choice.

ByWard Blue Inn serves a daily breakfast and afternoon tea. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the entire hotel. Free laptop computers are available in the lobby upon request. We stayed one night at the ByWard Blue Inn and really enjoyed our stay. The location is fantastic — right in the heart of the ByWard Market, close to restaurants, cafes, and Parliament Hill. The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated, with a small balcony that was a lovely bonus. Staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was fresh and delicious. A great choice for a short stay in Ottawa!

This hotel includes a 24-hour fitness centre and a business centre. The impeccable and friendly service of the staff. Our housekeeper on the 5th floor was lovely and helpful all week, as were the front desk and restaurant staff (hurrah for the bartenders who made great lattes with big smiles on each morning!). The lobby plants were stunning as well, and the beds more comfortable than mine at home.

There are lots of restaurants, take aways and pubs nearby (the location itself is located in a quiet street). You also have a huge supermarket and a rexall there. I didn't use the gym and pool.
