Mitsui Garden Hotel Kumamoto is a 20-minute walk from Kumamoto Castle and a 5-minute drive from JR Kumamoto Station. It offers modern accommodation with a cafe, massage services and free internet. Kumamon room was amazing: Kumamon painting on the wall, Kumamon sitting at the table, Kumamon pillows :-) It also was much bigger than the Japan standard. The staff was nice and helpful. Hotel is located close to shops and restaurants (Sakura Matchi) and the bus terminal, not too far from Kumamoto Castle (about 20 minutes walk).

Dormy Inn Kumamoto Natural Hot Spring is centrally located in Kumamoto, in front of the Kumamoto Bus Terminal and 1.6 km from the JR Kumamoto Station. Good location. Just opposite to the bus terminal. Great breakfast & springs. The outdoor spring is wonderful. Next to shopping mall with information centre for bus tickets & SUNQpass reservation inside. Many good restaurants nearby. Almost all scenic sites are within walking distance.
