Our rooms are designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring tatami mat flooring throughout. For those who prefer a futon on tatami or a bed, we also offer Japanese-Western style rooms. The warm ambiance is further enhanced by local artists' paintings adorning the walls. This place was amazing! You stepped into a quiet, calm sanctuary. Room was very comfortable. The staff was super kind and helpful! A small but very intimate onsen helps you relax. Bed was comfortable. And the traditional japanese breakfast was amazing! I would come back again! And hopefully I shall! ありがとうございます

Just a 2-minute walk from Takayama Station, Oyado Koto No Yume offers Japanese-style rooms with a colourful touch. The hotel features hot-spring baths, a restaurant serving breakfast and free WiFi throughout the property. This ryokan is introduced in Michelin Green Guide Japan. Location was amazing- walking distance from the station and from the old town. The place was beautiful, and the rooms had everything. Futons were very comfy. The onsen was the best I tried so far (but I haven’t tried a lot). We did the private bath, and it was really nice. They also lend you yukatas to wear around the ryokan. And the staff were very friendly, hospitable and helpful!

Free WiFi is available at the lobby and guestrooms. This hotel was selected as one of the Top 25 B&Bs and Inns in Japan by TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Award 2015. What a sweet antique ryokan run by the loveliest people! We had here the best dinners in our whole trip!!! I cannot explain enough how delicious and exceptional the dinners were. Everyone is sweet and kind, and language doesn't feel like a barrier. We were welcomed with ceremonial tea and sweets. Location is perfect, right at the centre of everything, a 7 minute walk to the old city, 1 minute walk to the bridge with beautiful views, and there are plenty of eateries and cafes around. It was the only stay during our trip where we had shared bathrooms and toilet, but in the end we didn't mind it at all. The authentic experience of the onsen is brilliant, super relaxing. The place feels a bit like a live museum, or your Japanese grandma's house, so it's fun to look around. They also have a library of books to swap / leave. The owners helped us with finding things to do at Takayama. Honestly I couldn't recommend it enough, would definitely return!

Awarded in 2014 with TripAdivsor’s Certificate of Excellence, Takayama Ouan features traditional Japanese designs and tatami (woven-straw) flooring throughout. It boasts a rooftop open-air natural hot-spring bath, cosy family baths and a hearty homemade breakfast buffet. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. JR Takayama Station is located a 3-minute walk away. We can’t recommend this place enough! Fantastic location, only 4 mins away from Takayama Station, 30 mins walk to Hida no sato (the folk village). There are no shoes allowed inside the hotel, you take them off when you enter and put them in a locker. The interior design of the hotel is so beautiful, looks very traditional, with tatami floors throughout and japanese style rooms with huge futon beds. Our room was really big, and only cost us €50 per night - crazy value for money. They have a public onsen and 3 private ones on the 13th floor, the private onsens are on a first come first served basis, with a 30 mins time limit. On the same floor they offer free icecream. Every night for 1 hour they give out free bowls of ramen, it’s not fancy ramen but it’s a very nice gesture and it’s free so what more could you ask for. There’s even a free to use foot bath, just outside the main entrance, with hot spring water, which anyone can use, whether they are a guest at the hotel or not. All in all we had a fantastic stay and would happily come back anytime. Hotel Ouan, おつかれさまでした.

Everything, view, interior design, facilities, grill table outside and all the little details toiletries to supplies tea/coffee. You literally can turn up with just clothing. Having washing facilities is super useful for families. Beach in walking distance! Kind and friendly staff. A lovely vacation :-)
The interior Design ist classy and fits the mood of Takayama as a whole. The rooms are spacious and the beds are fantastic, also a lot of pillows.
Very stylish Japanese interior design. The atmosphere was so relaxing that I wish we had stayed a couple more nights.
Private bath, beautiful facilities, very convenient location (two minute walk to the station), very lovely staff. Had USB + USBC outlets in the room which was super convenient gorgeous modern design
Great design and location and lovely bath.
Great location in a lovely town. Exterior and interior looks very classy yet modern (wooden design). Very friendly staff, free drinks (incl. sake tasting) and cute little spa area. Would definitely recommend spending at least two nights here. Lots to do in town (great food, sake breweries, old folk villages, etc.).
