The staff were very friendly and Teresa (the owner) is a very professional and kind person. Totally recommended!

Perched on a cliff facing the Atlantic Ocean, this design hotel is within a renovated traditional farmhouse. We were looking for somewhere special to celebrate our 20th anniversary, but didn’t want to stay in a big, impersonal hotel, and it was just what we had hoped. The hotel combines traditional with beautiful modern spaces, wonderful gardens and lots of secluded spots for guests to enjoy the peace and breathtaking views. Breakfast was delicious with hot options cooked to order, and the dining room staff were friendly and efficient. We had dinner at the hotel twice in the week we stayed and the food was of a high standard; eating out on the terrace was a highlight. We loved coming back to the pool after hiking or exploring the island, or to enjoy a drink on our balcony overlooking the ocean. Ponta do Sol itself is more peaceful than many other places on the south coast but has several good places to eat and a popular pub, so most evenings we were able to eat in the village without having to drive. The lifts were all working properly. The hotel’s location is perfect for exploring all parts of the island as it is very close to the road which runs up to the mountains and the north coast. Having an indoor pool and sauna to use when the weather was chilly was a bonus. We had an amazing holiday and will be back to explore more of this wonderful island, a week wasn’t nearly enough!

Offering an outdoor pool and spa centre, Castanheiro Boutique Hotel is set in Funchal, 500 metres from Marina do Funchal. The location is great and the hotel is very nice. Amazing breakfast, perfect with the rooftop pool and bar with very nice views of Funchal and the ocean. Also great with the Spa. I had a big and comfortable room with a kitchenette.

Beautiful property in a great location for hiking to Pico Ruivo and Pico Areeiro. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They made us feel very special. The Hibiscus Restaurant had wonderful food and Fabrício was great!

The 4-star Aqua Natura Madeira offers elegant rooms with Atlantic Ocean views in the fishing village of Porto Moniz, 45 km north of Funchal city centre. It offers a sauna on site. Location of the hotel is fantastic. The room was nice with spectacular sea view. Hotel personnel were very friendly. Both restaurants (rooftop and sea view) were of high quality. Especially japanese type rooftop restaurant very good. Easy access from the hotel to the pools.

This restored Madeiran mansion is located 900 metres from Funchal's Old Town and has scenic views of the sea, the city and the mountains from its own botanical gardens and terraces. The hotel is really great - nice location next to the city center, spacious rooms equipped with kitchenette, really tasty breakfast, lovely surroundings and exceptional staff. Greatly recommend for staying at Funchal

Set within tropical gardens on Madeira Island, this charming guesthouse features far-reaching sea views and 2 outdoor seawater pools and access to the sea. Breakfast was delicious, some components are different every day, there are tables on open air and inside, great view to the garden. Our building in the center of garden was very interesting, in old style, with many specific details on the walls, near the stairs... Beds are perfect, from open window you see the sea and listen the birds... There is see water in swimming pool, very comfortable and clean.. We asked for rent a car and the men from reception solved the problem during 5 min. Great!
