Very beautiful place to stay, with a lovely Hutong courtyard and a beautiful terrace. The staff there are really nice and helpful, giving all kinds of help (in English) that you need.
The location of this hotel is also perfect. It is in the center of Beijing, which is 2-3 km from the forbidden city, and a few hundred meters from the metro station that delivers you to every corner of the city. The area is also a lively neighborhood where you can easily find restaurants, shops, and shopping malls.
In general, I fully recommend this place, particularly to non-Chinese tourists.

Reminisce of an old era that I could only read and watch old movies about. Charming & romantic. The staff were very attentive and always happy to please the guests. Breakfast items bought from neighborhood stalls and shops offering a taste of what the locals eat for breakfast. In-house costumes available for the guests to dress up in for photo shoots. Outsider dressed in era gone by coming to the public area for photo op bringing additional charm to the place.

The staff were so lovely, friendly, attentive, informative and helpful in every way - nothing was too much trouble. They even helped out when my Peking Duck restaurant of choice seemed to be closed, directing me to one in Wangfujing that was divine (beautiful surroundings and stunning duck!) I loved the room - spacious and airy (for a “budget hotel, and for a tall person, blissful) and in particular the bathroom design with its ridged slate floor and uncluttered, simple design. The warmth of the wood really gave the room atmosphere, and I slept so soundly on that comfortable bed. The cleaning staff were efficient, attentive to detail and quick to respond to any requests. Everything is a quick walk away (or subway ride for further sightseeing) with a 24 hr store right next door, and former temples, fresh produce and small noodle places are to be found in the hutongs behind the Main Street. The other wonderful feature of this hotel is Cafe Alley downstairs , where you can get a stunning latte or pour over (whatever is your preference) and divine cake from the talented barista!
