Room, breakfast, facilities all excellent. The bar is a "must have" were it only for the spectacular views of the Alster and the city. We treated ourselves also to a dinner in the Lakeside restaurant. Great menu, very creative and delicious dishes, and the wine pairing offered was for the most part super.

The whole experience is of high quality delivered by courteous and helpful staff. The selection of restaurants is superb. Our favorite was Theo's. Live music in the bar in the evenings was very relaxing—piano mostly—a jazz group on Saturday evening. Also, it's not so far from the central station by Taxi or just a 5 5-minute walk from the local station. There is even an Avis car rental office in the hotel.

I had a lovely room with window to the inner yard, vintage furniture and a bathtub, which was one of the highlights of my trip. Lovely staff, comfy bed, cannot tell you about breakfast as I am very picky, but there is plenty to chose from, fruit, pastry, oatmeal, yoghurts, juices, tea/coffee, boiled eggs from what I recall. Walking down the hall to the rooms you can feel the genius loci. I just loved it.

Sebastian was a fabulous host who would even cook you breakfast, it is a beautiful small hotel that felt more like home. Absolutely spotless, as others state the toilet being separate wasn’t even an issue.
