What an amazing place! The saddest part of our stay was leaving and only having the opportunity to stay for a single night, if time had allowed, we would have stayed a week!
The location is perfect for the old historic centre, the cathedral is an easy walk, so much of the historic centre is walkable from here.
The staff were so incredible!!! So kind and helpful, with great English and knowledge to share. Nothing was too much trouble, from extra coffee, so booking taxis and restaurants.
The breakfast was one of the best meals we've eaten in Ecuador (and we have eaten very well in this country! - but this was a REALLY great way to start our day!) The Tigrillo was a really fabulous Ecuadorian breakfast cooked and presented beautifully.
This is such a beautiful property, very well maintained and full of gorgeous murals on the walls, the roof terrace boasts a stunning view of the city sky line and the garden is a wonderful place to enjoy the breakfast.
If we get the chance to return to Cuenca, this is the place we will stay for sure, and the place I would recommend to any friends who plan this trip!

This place is just simply splendid. It's a real gem.
Great bed, great shower. Towels all superclean and fluffy. Breakfast was amazing. The whole place is just really well thought through. Attention to details in everything. And don't get me started about the dreamy smell of the rosemary and lavender in the garden... Truly amazing.
Don't look any further. Just book this place and thank me later.

Very central location to the churches, main square and restaurant. Short walk to museums and the riverwalk.
Breakfast was top notch every morning.
Wifi was dependable and pretty fast. Maybe 15-20 mbps on a speed test.
From reading the reviews I was worried about the creaky floor noise but it didn't bother me. The rooms had lots of space to spread out, included a luggage rack and even a little wine fridge. Showers were hot and had shampoo and conditioner dispensers.

Amazing hotel. Situated in the center of the city! Staff are so acomodating and friendly! Facilities are comfortable. Bed, pillows were so fantastic. Breakfast has no wide choice but it the same in all Equador.

Lovely old building, beautifully restored and decorated and comfortably furnished. Very convenient location, walking distance of everything, including the tram stop to the bus station and airport. Spacious bedroom, fabulously quiet, comfy bed, extensive buffet breakfast. Shared balcony with sofas and chairs to relax in the open air if, like us, you prefer to be outside in the daylight. Very pleasant, helpful and friendly staff. We were able to leave our bags after checking out and after a day exploring Cuenca relaxed in the hotel lounge for a couple of hours before our evening flight to Quito - so much nicer than waiting at the airport!
This hotel is the best we’ve stayed at in our four weeks in Ecuador and perfect for a two or three night stay.

The hotel is not called Hotel en El Centro Historico. It's called Balcon del Arte. It took me 35 mns in a taxi to find it and 10$ instead of 2$ from the bus station. I had to stop at each hotel on the road to find the hotel asking if it was the hotel.
